Does he see play in any competitive Standard decks? Esper control? Seems like a good card, but I'm unsure where he'd have a home.
Does he see play in commander?
(The reason I asked is because I opened a foil today.)
He's a commander staple. Clones never really see play. Phyrexian Metamorph and Phantasmal Image are a little different, since they're very affordable. The only way I see this card seeing play is if Garruk, Apex Predator suddenly becomes a big deal, which I doubt it will. On control, you can let the Garruk resolve, copy their one, and then kill it off. That's a lot of value for 4 mana. Who knows, it could find itself sided in on a deck or something. Or maybe it could be used in Blue Dev, if that ever gets proper support again.
You're in luck. EDH players are notorious for their love of foils. There's a reason the foil's like 20+ if I recall correctly. It's likely to go up too., but that'll take time.

Yeah, it's listed at SCG at $34.99.
...anyone want it?

Ugh It's probably beautiful! But I don't have enough to trade for it/buy it.

It looks pretty darned cool. I don't really do Blue in EDH, though...
I'm trying to amass pieces for an Aurelia, the Warleader Commander list, so maybe I can snag a few pieces of it with this as trade fodder.

If I had something to give you, I'd trade for it. I love Clever Impersonator in my Roon of the Hidden Realm flicker deck. Getting repeating value out of that thing is amazing. There's never a time when I feel like that card is dead in my hand. It's a damn good looking card.

Well, keep it in mind that I've got one, I guess. If you come across a card I need (like one for my Aurelia list; it's on my profile), hit me up. I wanna move this sucker. :)
