Collected Company Combos!

Standard forum

Collected Company. So I REALLY want this card to work in standard. I think the problem is its so hard to build a deck that this card is good in, but a deck that doesn't hinge on having it. Like a deck that can win even if you never draw collected company.

I tried it in a normal temur shell and abzan aggro shell and it was fine but not spectacular, like sometimes whiffed or just got one creature and I was like "meh." But this new U/G morph deck I saw at providence got me thinking about it again. The combo of Silumgar Sorcerer to make this card a virtual counterspell is stupid good. It's so versatile, so powerful, even if it's so random.

Does anyone have any ideas for this card? Combos for standard like the one with Silumgar Sorcerer? I thought of Hushwing Gryff, but other than that, I'm drawing blanks. Ideas?

Collected Company works wonderfully with any creature that has haste, like say, Flamewake Phoenix. I also like it to replenish after a board wipe, and I even like to combo it with Zurgo Bellstriker, especially if I already have a Hero's Blade out. That makes it a tough 5/4 S.O.B. right off the bat.

There is always, of course, Goblin Rabblemaster. But then again, the King of Rabble combos with just about everything.

I actually prefer to play collected company with non-haste creatures. I think its a better spell if you keep the mana open to either cast it as a response to an opponent's action, or just at the end of your opponent's turn.

Phoenix is still kinda cool for the fact that you can block with in then just reanimate it next turn for a measly one red.

A Brimaz, King of Oreskos surprise block is very strong. An attack form him right after a board wipe would be an extremely strong move against control too!

Anafenza, the Foremost, Ojutai Exemplars are good if using white, but I have only used it to get more green cards out like mana dorks or Deathmist Raptor. that is, I did before just replacing that 4 drop with another, Surrak, the Hunt Caller

I can understand if you struggle to make cards like Deadly Wanderings, Berserkers' Onslaught or even Clone Legion works in standard. But Collected Company? really?

That card is so dang versatile that it's easier to create a deck around it than taking a candy from a baby. Here's some idea to get you started:

Here's a deck that wins me my promo Thunderbreak Regent: Simple, Effective, and Efficient
