I didn't think it would be a bad deck, I just know it would be WAY better with Jace and cause me to fall behind in the mirror match. I'm not sure if Esper Dragons (without Jace) would be the better deck to play.

Here's my decklist if anyone's interested: Jeskai Dragon Midrange. I went 3-1 at a standard event this week using it, losing to Dark Jeskai with Jace in the 4th round (of course).

Jdvanliew I like the idea but it seems a little underpowered for competitive Standard play. You'd get tons of triggers and would have fun playing it but Mirror Mockery makes it way to easy for you to get 2-for-1'd.

If I were to build around Mirror Mockery I'd go B/W/U with Drana, Liberator of Malakir, Drana's Emissary, Kalastria Healer, and Zulaport Cutthroat. Plus whatever other allies you want. Blue would only be included for Mirror Mockery and Treasure Cruise.

I learned the hard way that gw scales has like zero game vs ramp decks that stall. I might have also screwed up my sideboard plan and got punished for it though.

somsoc says... #5

I've been having fun with Mirror Mockery in a UR control deck with ETB effects (Faerie Miscreant, scion generators, Enthralling Victor, etc)) (and really I think it's a fun build around card), but I don't think it's particularly powerful since your creatures aren't entering attacking. It might work inside a sacrifice based allies deck, though.

It might work nicely if attached to Chasm Guide.

Her 3/2 is actually quite hefty and her constant Rally trigger could be useful.

She'd need a lot of protection, though.

November 8, 2015 9:05 a.m.

TheNextRedDude says... #7

Argeaux, Haste really wouldn't help, because you would have had to declare all attackers before the rally happened.

November 8, 2015 11:08 a.m.

I would think it wouldn't work since you would have to declare attackers, so the token copy wouldn't be attacking.

November 8, 2015 11:27 a.m.

Argy says... #9

Ah never mind then.

November 8, 2015 11:42 a.m.

It would work with some other Allies though. Just not sure which ones are worth it.

You know it might not be too bad with Kalastria Healer.

So recently I have been creating a mental list of interesting cards to brew around. I think something with Graveblade Marauder could be quite interesting, particularly because he is warrior. Consider filling your graveyard with the ability of Blood-Chin Fanatic and swinging in for lots of damage with Graveblade Marauder in a warrior tribal styled deck or possibly a sultai build with Graveblade Marauder + Sidisi, Brood Tyrant . For other ideas, I have seen a number of aristocrat/reanimator decks on the site, and I think these decks may be more powerful than ever come rotation as many of us know that Innistrad usually has great synergy with graveyards and sacrifice-y things. What do you guys think of this?

November 8, 2015 9:19 p.m.

somsoc says... #13

I think the Warriors deck is awesome right now and you should totally build it :) Blood-Chin Fanatic + Blood-Chin Rager + Mardu Strike Leader

As for aristocrats in Innistrad, I'm excited for Tainted Remedy becoming a playable hate card :)

November 9, 2015 4:39 p.m.

Argy says... #14

I've already been using Tainted Remedy in my sideboard.

I love it in response to all the decks that are built around automatic life gain. I have some life gain but I can choose when to use it.

November 9, 2015 8:33 p.m.

somsoc says... #15

Yeah, it seems like a good sideboard card now. Pre-rotation I tried to build a deck around it using life-gain and burn, but it was a bit clunky. I think there's only one 'targer player gains life' card (Healing Hands) in Standard now.

Are life gain decks a popular thing everywhere right now? They show up quite often locally to me, but I haven't yet felt the need to hate on them - they're annoying decks to play against because they're not particularly interactive, but I think mid-range decks just go through them. People are still on the mill train where I'm at, so Cranial Archive is still my four slots for % :)

November 9, 2015 10:46 p.m.

Swilliam I played around with a deck using Sidisi, Brood Tyrant and Graveblade Marauder. With Taigam's Scheming as an engine for filling your graveyard. They all combo really nicely, but the deck was a little too slow for my liking.

Silkwrap and Stasis Snare are both good, as are Roast, Valorous Stance and Fiery Impulse. Just kind of depends on what you're gunning for.

tyforthevenom says... #19

Hit hard and fast

January 9, 2016 8:05 a.m.

tyforthevenom says... #20

Or more accurately I want removal to slow down the faster decks so I can consistently hit harder than ramp or control

January 9, 2016 8:13 a.m.

awphutt says... #21

Slowing down the likes of Abzan and RDW seems like you want stuff like Silkwrap and Roast. Depending on the flavour of Jeskai you expect, Roast might not be as useful as something like Fiery Impulse, but Impulse is again, only really good when you've got a good density of spells.

Mainly, you've got to figure out what meta you'll be playing against and tailor your removal suite to it.

January 9, 2016 8:42 a.m.

RedDiomedes says... #22

Silkwrap is risky against abzan since they often have dromoka's command. It and wild slash though are great against mana dorks. Valorous stance is great against the bigger threats, also deathtouch and destroy spells.

January 9, 2016 8:53 a.m.

tyforthevenom says... #23

I don't have a density of instant or sorceries but valorous stance is good as it also helps vs control, I'm kind of like the old heroic decks but with dash and artifice

January 9, 2016 9:09 a.m.

tyforthevenom says... #24

Tears of valakut good vs dragon lords, 3/5 of them atleast

January 9, 2016 1:13 p.m.

ohmless says... #25

Was thinking of trying an izzet prowess deck that is similar to atarka red. Not sure how many instants to have in it but currently have 16.

Sure wish the whole set was on site already but I do give them credit that it is being done faster than it was for BFZ.

I am a big fan of Stormchaser Mage.

I have an issue with Wall of Resurgence in that I'm not sure what turn you'd be happy playing it on. On turn 3 it seems really bad if you tap out to play it, creating a 3/3 land (tapped), which could get blown up, potentially setting you back a mana, which is as good as game over for many white decks. You get a 0/6 wall for 3 mana which probably doesn't do a whole lot except against a red deck that is bricking on creatures.

Later in the game it doesn't seem amazing, a 3/3 haste creature for 3 which will be blocked by most things and can't interact with fliers.

In limited it seems fun but I don't know if it can be good in standard.

--

I like the 2 mana rare Elf we got: Sylvan Advocate. Instant include in my Elfy beat down decks. And an Elf mid-range creature in Tajuru Pathwarden, which is also nice, if not spectacular.

January 13, 2016 6:03 a.m. Edited.

RedDiomedes says... #28

Wall of Resurgence I think has potential. Its ability to create a land elemental is a may ability. Its white so if they nuke your land their could be synergy with Knight of the White Orchid. Their is also Synergy with Man lands, with Noyan Dar roil shaper etc. What you say is not wrong, risking lands could be a problem. On the other hand 3/9 spread over two bodies for 3 Mana is nothing to sneer at.

Do you think grixis eldrazi control will be good? I'm thinking of abusing Herald of Kozilek to shortcut my higher costing removal. Maybe win the game by attacking with new ula or kozi?

January 13, 2016 1:59 p.m.

somsoc says... #31

I think it will be. Jonny 5 Herald was already powerful in an all-in colourless deck. I tried an aggro version of it when BFZ came out and had some success. Casting Brutal Expulsion for 2 is kind of gross. He eats a lot of hate though in my experience, so you very much need to protect him in order to power out your big spells. Either way you should build the deck because it's fun :)

Red black or green ramp are probably the best ways to go for eldrazi

What are some good rakdos sideboard cards?

January 14, 2016 4:46 a.m.

Ravolt says... #34

somsoc Yeah, I tried an bfz eldrazi deck, and I definetly loved casting that card for cheap. The one card I felt that was out of place in my deck was Molten Nursery. I think I want to replace it with Thought Harvester and Dimensional Infiltrator to feed Oblivion Sower for an end game win. Other than those, and 4 HoKs, I think probably a few new ulamogs and Reality Smasher will be my wincon. I'd sacrifice card advantage for slowing my opponent down.

January 14, 2016 7:14 a.m.

rakdos sideboarding would probably be a combination of these staples + possibly others. The replacement for Drown in Sorrow called Flaying Tendrils, Ultimate Price, Roast, Complete Disregard, Radiant Flames, Devour in Flames or Rending Volley to name a few.

You know I was really excited about Nissa but seeing as how she is already around $20.00 I had to reevaluate her. Really once I saw Dimensional Infiltrator and Stormchaser Mage I started having my doubts about this Nissa.

Also I was originally really hyped because of it in modern where you could T2 Bitterblossom into T3 Nissa. Now I'm thinking for Standard you could T3 NIssa into T4 Gideon which isn't bad, but is it better than T3 Anafenza?

At the very least this new Nissa is somewhere between Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded and Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip or Domri Rade.

P.S.
Long live Dimensional Infiltrator, the best 2 drop flyer since Baleful Strix!

So, I'm running a Jund Dragons deck, works pretty well, but the early game is slow. I'm trying to figure out what to replace. I'm currently running 4 Heir of the Wilds and 4 Scaleguard Sentinels. While they work well, I am planning on pulling the 4 Scaleguards, any tips on a new 1-3 drop to run in its place? To find the deck you can check my deck-lists.

January 14, 2016 10:05 a.m.

somsoc says... #40

@ Lockout2 I would include Rattleclaw Mystic since it's the best ramp creature in Standard and will make your deck go faster. It essentially equates to +2 mana on the turn you flip it up, so six mana on T4 if you hit the lands, which in a dragon aggro deck is obviously great. Even if you're not going to be using the blue mana (gives you the option of sideboard Negate or Dispel, though), you can make use of the extra red for creatures like Thunderbreak Regent.

Not sure I would cut the Scaleguards though. If you can reliably get the counters (which you can), it blocks and beats down depending on what you need. I would go down on the Heirs just because Rattleclaw gives you more.

@somsoc, I have thought about splashing blue throwing in a Sunken Hollow would help with black mana as well as being fetchable, and I could even try throwing in a single copy of Sakhan Unbroken in the sideboard. If he resolves I have minor ramp and card draw every turn.

At the very least I really hope that there's a devoid deck that can batter Rally around a bit. That deck is just completely oppressive right now. Fun to play but not fun to play against in the slightest. The thought of four months of Rally until rotation is not a particularly happy one.

curious what others think on this as I can't make up my mind. I want to make a deck that is colorless and one color but can't choose what color. Leaning green, but blue, red, and black are all options I am considering. Which should I go with?

What kind of split would you do between Captain's Claws and Stoneforge Masterwork in an ally deck?

January 21, 2016 3:18 a.m.

buildingadeck says... #50

tyforthevenom: Going wide is what Allies wants to do. Not only will the Captain's Claws tokens trigger Ally etb effects, but it also deals immediate damage. I would go for more Claws than Masterworks simply because Masterworks is a card that pumps one creature, and Allies is about a collective effect, much like slivers.
