I have noticed more and more control decks (namely Esper control) are putting in a 1 x Trading Post into their sideboards...
Is this solely for the lifegain? Or am I missing something
I mean being able to recur Ratchet Bomb s or Pithing Needle s COULD be ok but why not just run Trading Post as the deck itself along with AEtherling , Elspeth, Sun's Champion , Azorius Keyrune and haunted platemail as the win cons?

It was an Esper Control list Harry Corvese's Esper Control 1st Place SCG Oct.27
The deck was put on this site by omnipath. It placed first at an event on 10/27

"This card serves as a value machine against some of the more creative problems the current format can present. Against Mono Black Devotion, it helps to keep you out of range against Grey Merchant of Asphodel while also providing you a mini-Forcefield that can protect you from Desecration Demon and various attacks from Mutavault and other ground creatures. When combined with Pithing Needles, it can serve as a reset button for what you chose to name as well as a slower card drawing engine. I have also found myself boarding it in against decks with a lot of burn and also to hedge against Burning Earth." -Harry Corvese

Thanks seevers35. I haven't found that article yet.
I've been working on an Esper Control/Trading Post deck for awhile using Obzedat, Ghost Council and AEtherling as the only creatures in the deck as I can activate Haunted Plate Mail with Ghost dad trigger on the stack and AEtherling is just...well, AEtherling

Don't underestimate the post. It turns any land into 4 life. It converts 1 life into a chump-blocker, and of you really need it you can make it pop itself for a card, and as said before, if they kill your Ratchet Bomb or Pithing Needle etc, it can recur it. It's really diverse. It seems underwhelming, but it's not bad at all.

Oh no...I have seen the value of Trading Post back when SoM block was still here (and lots of good artifacts were around). I think it's time for it to become a good deck again :)

I don't see a deck list with Trading Post outside of the post decks. Do you have a list to look at?
Personally, I don't see it being important/valuable.
