Could B/W Heroic become the next Cawblade?

I know...it ain't really a fair comparison, but from what I've seen and heard, Blue/White heroic could take over the format. It just has an answer for everything.

I'll bet I'm gonna get a ton of heat for even thinking of this, but oh well. Thoughts?

Well, there are still many other viable decks that can win against this matchup. Jeskai, Abzan, and Sultai decks are still prevalent, and RDW can also steal some games here and there. The meta is diverse enough that B/W Heroic won't be THE deck to play, and with FRF coming soon then I wouldn't say that it will dominate all decks without a couple really overpowered spoilers.

The designation is W/U (or U/W). B is for black. U is for blue.

Not sure if this means anything to you, but i've never lost the UW heroic matchup. Like, ever. I play it at least once a week.

So no, I have zero faith that the deck will take over the format.

To be blunt; there is no way that UW Heroic could take over standard. Not once have I lost a match to the deck.

Crackling Doom.

I play UW Heroic and as long as Crackling Doom sees play, it will never be the best deck in the format.

I have a very good record with UW Heroic, but even so, I echo the sentiment of others before me by saying I have also never lost to it using my Abzan Midrange deck before I switched.

@Doc28: There is no harm in asking the question. But think about it this way: a deck that is good on paper does not mean it will be good in action. Sure, it has an answer for most everything, but the nature of Magic is such that the variance of the game means that any deck can lose. U/W heroic is a very linear strategy (which is, as defined by Reid Duke, a strategy that focuses all of its attention on a single goal). These strategies are very powerful when all of the pieces come together, but lack an ability to interact with the opponent on a meaningful level. So, if the opponent can interact in a way that you cant do anything about (for example, turn 1 Thoughtseize the only creature you have), you could end up not playing much of a game at all. That is why U/W heroic isn't going to be super powerful.

Yeah, don't feel bad about asking a question but this one had definite answer. Many decks seem incredibly strong when playtesting or goldfishing, but in a meta where removal is so prominent it's not great. And I run Mardu Midrange, so packing four Crackling Doom mainboard kinda hampers their parade.

Hell, Crackling Doom is so good I threw a set of the babies into my Jeskai deck!

Well, the original question is answered, but there's still a very valid question hidden here somewhere: While things like Crackling Doom are played, how good can UW Heroic get? It's certainly on the rise right now, and although it isn't great against something like Crackling Doom, a skilled pilot can still play around it. Where is the ceiling for this deck?

Well, as long as there's people who like to pay $5 for a deck and compete with it, so long will there be cheap AF aggro decks, here being heroic.

So basically it will be played into oblivion until things for it become too expensive, or something just flat out beats the deck.

The deck isn't close to being the best deck in the format.

I think Jeskai tokens, Abzan, and Sidisi Whip are contenders for the strongest deck. U/W heroic, not so much. Removal.
