Although i know this is entirely dependent on what the local meta is, but what is the best deck to play right now if you want to win at fnm?

Frayace says... #2

Probably Abzan midrange.

my deck got really far KTK game day, and its good against all three archetypes (aggro, midrange, and control), so it's just a good idea what to do for abzan midrange

This is a bit off topic but Asher's comment made me think of it, I wish Wizards would give up on trying to say midrange is the third major Archetype and start making support for combo again.

Pretty sure that after this weekend that answer is entirely different.

Well we still do have to wait. I didn't post my deck just to advertise, i was genuinely trying to help. I hope he goes in a different direction. Cookie cutter decks aren't fun, just boring. trentfaris242, what makes you think combo is coming back?

@Asher18 I wasn't commenting on your deck. Ivan was able to plow through every match he played Sat/Sun because no one was prepared for, as a commentator put it, a modern deck among Standard decks. The meta will definitely shift in response to deal with it. It's just how the Standard meta operates.

@trentfaris242 What deck did Ivan play? I've been so busy lately i cant sit home and watch the matches =(Thanks for the opinions guys please keep them coming. I mainly play temur, have tried midrange, control, aggro. So far its a toss up of midrange and control. These colors have been in my decks since i started playing in highschool(28 now.)

Abzan or Ivan Jen's Jeskai Heroic Combo deck.

For me its a Jeskai deck. Once you have the core of the deck and the manabase you can go anyway you want from week to week. Sometimes I play combo, sometimes Tempo and I'v even tried going full on control as well as varriations inbetween.

I'll be having lots of fun for the next year with it!

Do you need rabbles for jeskai? i just got rid of mine sold them for like 22 each. needed the money. So temur, sultai, mardu really arent that great then? in a competitive aspect.

Mardu Midrange cleaned house at a tournament recently (TCGPlayer 50K I believe) as it preyed on the Abzan Midrange decks. The beauty of current standard is I don't know if there IS a "best deck" right now. It's been what, 6 weeks or so and there is still no solid set king? That's awesome! There are clearly several continual contenders, and I think staying in Abzan or Jeskai is safe, but all of the clans have strong aspects and are just waiting for the right decks (Temur Monsters, Sultai Control or Sultai Dredgy-Delvy things, Mardu Aggro, Tokens, or Midrange).

i hate how temur is just one type of deck ha ha =( I might mess with mardu or sultai. It seems as if i don't want to play the good stuff right now ha ha!!

Although now that people see that, there are a lot more mono black and control decks. Depends on what most people are running at your LGS

I believe the commentators got it right when they said that Jeskai Heroic Combo is the deck to beat. It doesn't have anything in the deck except for Jeskai Ascendancy that you can really play against, and it can protect it pretty well outside of things like Stain the Mind . It's just a bunch of trash low drop heroic creatures.

OP_Magikarp The deck looks pretty solid but i playtested and often found that the craters claws would be a dead draw!! =( if i used your deck i would probably add in a few more mountains. other than that it seems pretty solid with constant threats.

trentfaris242 Do you have a link to the deck? I just want to start winning at my lgs ha ha... funny thing is I've never really done a standard tourney there XD i just want to go in with a solid deck and kick booty butts!!
