Hey guys, So I'm going to a SCG open at the end of the month but I don't have a deck yet! I'm willing to spend around $200 as long as the majority of the cards aren't rotating! Could anyone give some ideas? I'd rather not play Abzan! Thanks!!!!

GW Collected Company, Ojutai Bant, Mardu Dragons, Esper Dragons, Naya Mastery Dragons, Jund Dragons, Sultai or Abzan Reanimator...in order to have a decently competitive deckk, it will require you to have some extra cash thrown into it, unless you just play Atarka Red or Mono-Red. But I never had fun playing with either of those two. Or come up with a home brew, at least you may see some camera time. You could try 5-color Superfriends primarily using Green for ramp and mana fixing and black for removal. The only non green/black cards will be your planeswalkers. Or just go with Temur Aggro...it's a deck that I am working on and find it fairly fast and competitive. I have a bunch of lists on my page if you want to scour around.

that or white wienies, just dig up all the white warriors and soldiers you can, through in some protection spells and boom, annoying, strong, cheap, and will get you easy wins

To add to kynrayn...you could run B/W Warriors...it's cheap, fast and fun to play.

Blue devotion splashing green for Collected Company. Have a TON of fun as the deck is a blast to play, and you will certainly catch many of your opponents off guard.

Blue devotion with Collected Company is definitely a great deck, and fairly cheap to build.

The only downside is that the main pieces, Thassa, God of the Sea and Master of Waves, are rotating.

Thassa, God of the Sea will keep some value, being a mythic, and will be wanted for some EDH and Tiny Leaders decks. Will probably retain value of 3-5$.

Master of Waves is seeing minimal play in modern merfolk decks, so will keep some value due to that, but I expect it will drop to a couple bucks.
