Does dimir have to mean mill?

I understand there are many dimir mill cards coming, but I feel as though it is better off as the aggressive side of esper.

Especially with the cipher ability coming out I feel as though there is an untapped mine of cool effects along side esper aggro.

Duskmantle Seer is the mythic for dimir, and it has nothing to do with milling.

Dimir isn't mill.guild. It has some good mill cards, but Dimir is more about about control combined with evasiony creatures.

I find wizards pushing aggro-mill. Instead of milling them completely, you want to mill about 10-15 cards and let your dudes finish them off. This si shown in the cards card:Jace's Phantasm, Consuming Aberration , and Duskmantle Guildmage , among others

The advantage of an aggro-mill deck too, is that if you come up against a control deck that is likely to keep your creatures from staying around, you can always just mill them out.

dimir's main strategy for limited it mill, cuz there's only 40 cards and 17 lands, but dimir cards are more about tempo-control

Not necessarily... in terms of flavor, Dimir is the guild that works behind the scenes, re-arranging plots and leaving no trace.

For flavor's sake, mechanically, a lot of Dimir cards are to do with mill. Why? Milling doesn't affect the board state but affects your opponent's plans. It's the way Dimir information brokers deal with you. They leave no trace of what just happened, just a discarded pile of memories that you (hopefully) won't be able to retrieve.

Treasured Find , Unburial Rites or Snapcaster Mage /Burning Vengeance kinda hint at the guilds that are most troublesome for the Dimir

In that case would splashing in white and adding GY removal like Rest in Peace would be nice. Hmm I am more than ever in odds of how to make a dimir focused esper deck.

Note that on the Cipher abilities it says "you may CAST the encoded card" which would trigger things like Pyroconvergence with something like Call of the Nightwing or, in your case, the extort on something like Blind Obedience for free, plus if you ever manage to keep something like Undercity Plague encoded on Fencing Ace it would pretty much devastate your opponent to no end...

see here is my issue, I don't get why everyone loves Fencing Ace I get the double stricke, but he is just a 1/1 and in his place I think Invisible Stalker would be much better to keep the cipher ability on, but all in all all he is is a 1/1 with double strike that can be killed by most till enchantments get on him. ya know?

Also thanks I didn't even think about extorting off of cipher

this is why dimir is so good at tempo. Say if you put down undercity plague on an invisible stalker by turn four because of crypt ghast, you'll pretty much cripple the opponent.

Seriously I was starting to get down about making an esper deck that isn't based on super friends or spirits and you guys totally raised my spirits! (pun not intended but welcomed)

i agree with the fencing ace comment, to go off topic for just a moment. i would rather pay the extra W and throw down a silverblade paladin. he has double the body and gives something else the double strike.now about dimir milling. these cards that we see coming out mill, but none of them really show it as a win condition. if you are looking to mill your opponent down right now, i really think that jace, memory adept is the staple of your deck, not dimir cards from RtR. This is kind of like controling your opponents board beffore he gets a board to be controlled. That's my take at least.
