So I have lightning mauler out with rancor, soulbonded w silverblade so that it have doublestike, then also soulbonded with nearheath pilgrim so it has lifelink. I swing on my opponent. They block with syndic of tithes. Im wondering if I gain the regular damage in life plus the doublestrike damage, or if I only gain the life once because the syindic dies from the first strike damage.
Your Lightning Mauler can only be paired to either the Silverblade Paladin or the Nearheath Pilgrim - 1 creature can't be soulbound to more then 1 other creature.

If you did have a double-striker with lifelink attacking, here's what would happen, for future reference:
--First strike combat damage step: your creature assigns its damage to the blocker and you gain that much life. Then,
--Normal combat damage step: IF the blocker is still alive, your attacker will assign its damage again and you'll gain that much life. If, however, the blocking creature is dead (as would be the case in your situation, if it were legal) then your creature would assign no damage, as there is nothing there for it to assign damage to. You won't gain any more life in this case.
If your double strike lifelinker also had trample, then it wouldn't matter; you'd just assign the rest of the damage to the player, so you'd gain the life regardless.
But, as the others have said, your situation is already illegal, since a soulbond creature can only be paired with one other creature. Think of it like a marriage: only one other creature, and until death (or leaves the battlefield) does them part.

One thing is wrong with your analysis, MagnorCriol: OP stated that the Lightning Mauler had a Rancor equipped.
With trample, double strike and lifelink on a single creature, it will deal enough damage to kill the blocker during the first damage step (first strike damage) and the remaining damage can be assigned to the defending player/planeswalker; then the damage in the second damage step will also trample over to the player/walker. You would gain life from all of the damage dealt.
Like the other said, however, you can't soulbond a single creature with more than one creature.

You're right, Goody, I missed that. My apologies. Everything I said is correct, but since he had trample most of it wasn't relevant. Still, for future reference, etc etc.

Thanks so much you guys for the quick responses, I wasn't aware of the soulbond rules, now I am enlightened.

Without trample, a creature with double strike will not inflict damage beyond the initial combat step, with trample however you'll do damage to both the creature and the player thus gaining maximum life.

You will gain life from both damage, but this situation is illegal. One creature cannot be soubonded to 2 creatures
