Evolutionary Leap

I searched the forums and decklists and found almost nothing about Evolutionary Leap and that surprised me so here it is. THE ONE OFFICIAL THREAD FOR THIS CARD. This card has a striking similarity to Survival of the Fittest but is also extremely different. Obviously the older card has more power to it due to its pinpoint tutor nature and the new leap forward for its "herp derp find the next thing."

But all the same Evolutionary Leap strikes me as a powerful, fun build around. A lot of the decks I've seen with it have a very basic Den Protector, Deathmist Raptor engine along with Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip and Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip to look for as value and that depressed me. Of coure the denmist raptor engine is still ridiculous and busted, but how has nobody thought to use this as a toolbox. It's an ineffective toolbox engine, but it could be neat.

So post here if you have thoughts on this card. Help fill the toolbox with fun ridiculous things!

I think the card is best suited as a sideboard card for wrath resilience against control, though it might be too slow. People are going to want to run Languish for sure so Abzan control and creatureless U/B control are gonna be played a lot and Evolutionary Leap ain't fast enough.

It seems to me like it's only a brew card and won't see standard play, but it's a cool card nonetheless. Maybe try and abuse ETB effects with it, both from the creature that will be cheated from the leap and from reanimation of what you're sacrificing!

This is my only Origins pre order. The card advantage is real.

Idk anything about standard but this card is a total bomb. It is the only card I have ever preordered. I'll be surprised if the price doesn't increase

yeah i preordered a 4-of as well. I've been trying it in a Sidisi, Brood Tyrant brew with a bunch of 1-of utility creatures. every game is different which i love.

Languish is only a 2-3x in most decks that want it and it's tangible impact in gameplay is being overstated. The biggest influence it has is over deck building, peeps will adjust and Leap is a way to beat removal. The more it sees play the better Evolutionary Leap gets.

It lets you 2 for 1 removal, fixes the issue of late game topdecked mana dorks, and always draws action. This card wil definitely see play in Standard.

I also pre-ordered 4x. Only Origins card I ordered. I think for Standard, we'll need to see more quality creatures that have some effect when they ETB or die to get Leap there. There's already a lot of potential in Modern.

I think it'll get way better with BFZ. If they print any eldrazi spawn token makers this card gets fantastic
