Hi guys. As we all knew, KLD just being release and gonna say bye2 to Origin and DTK. Straight to the point, how control deck gonna perform in the new meta? ex : BW Control, Mardu Control, GB Control?

From what I've gathered, we might see the return of a typical UW control deck. It looks like its gotten the tool to become powerful again.

Black loses it's best sweeper in Languish, and the only ones left to it are a few -2/-2 spells and the new Demon of Dark Schemes, but neither is really that good of an answer. But black's suite of single target removal is still intact. White loses Tragic Arrogance, but gains Cataclysmic Gearhulk and Fumigate. So BW and Mardu control can still exist, but will need to shift around to access their new sweeper.

GB loses it's sweeper and doesn't gain access to any other sweepers, so it's already lost considerable ground. Dark Petition also rotates out, so the combo with Seasons Past is gone. I don't know if there's enough left in GB to be a viable control deck.

UW seems to be the best positioned to excel in the new format. It has sweepers, card draw, counters, and targeted removal as well as good finishers to help it succeed.

A friend of mine who plays UW Spirits tells me that they've lost: Clash of Wills, Ojutai's Command and Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit.

I argued that Clash could easily be replaced by Revolutionary Rebuff, but the deck had still lost the early buffs from Anafenza and the late game recursion from O-Command,

Anyone got a u/w control list? I don't play standard much but might want to play for a bit this rotation.

The Seasons Past deck gets to use Diabolic Tutor, which I would argue is better than Dark Petition.

The loss of Languish really breaks it, though.

How is Diabolic Tutor better than Dark Petition? For one more mana you get a Dark Ritual attached to it, which means you can tutor up an answer to a threat, or tutor up the thing and then use the removal in your hand to do the thing.
