Getting back into standard

The wife and I have been playing EDH for the past few months, personally I still prefer it. But we haven't bought any "new cards" except for the C13 decks, since Dragons Maze. A couple nights ago we picked up her Anthousa's Army and me Devotion to Darkness precons just to get back into standard. We have already begun with her deck towards the heroic mechanic but Im still not sure which direction to take mine. Im thinking U/B control if that's still viable or is mono black devotion better? They need to be casual competitive Im looking to add no more that $10-15 to each. Any help would be appreciated.

MBD is "better" in that it's a more competitive deck, but mill can be more fun to play and less people will have sideboard answers for it. Jace, Memory Adept is great in mill, and he's running about $7 right now.
Or you could improve on the U/B devotion deck you already have. Adding a Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and two more Gray Merchant of Asphodel would make that deck a lot better for about $12.
There are a few good Standard-legal cards in the C13 decks. Which ones did you get?

Yeah the Jund deck was what I was playing getting utterly crushed, the G/W was just me rolling some ideas around for the wifes deck. Any idea on cards for the mill deck I already have Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker , Consuming Aberration and cards from the RTR block on the list, and Phenax is in my cart online right now.

@ SharuumNyan We got all five of them. Im not trying to have the absolute most competitive deck, but I want to win more than I lose. I already have a play set of the grey merchant, I think Im going to go the U/B devotion as my wife hates me playing mill lol.

U/B mill then. MBD would probably be more than 10-25$, U/B mill would be a bit cheaper and easier to attain. Mill would have the control elements, but using a lot of commons/uncommons, with probably phenax as your big purchase.
