Getting Back Into Standard

What's the current state of standard? I stopped playing right after Battle for Zendikar came out, and have no idea what has happened to the format or anything. Are there any good budget decks? Is RDW viable on a budget right now? I also just want suggestions for a cheap standard deck, and one that isn't super boring to play.

No, next rotation isn't until Fall of 2017. It's just that all the new cards will shake it up for sure. So I'd definitely choose a super-budget build, or maybe even borrow a deck from a friend for the next month or so.

A few more thoughts ...
Personally, I've only been playing Standard a little while, and I've found myself alternating back and forth between Izzet and Gruul decks: UR Thopters in OGW, RG Wolves in SOI, UR Spells in EMN, and now RG Pummeler. I'm really enjoying the Pummeler deck ... you can get a feel for how it plays from these videos by SaffronOlive at MTGgoldfish. And, shamelessley, please feel free to check out my deck at Steel-Cannon Pummeler (KLD).
I noticed the Thopter deck on your page. I was really hoping for a bunch more Thopters in Kaladesh, but I guess they were too powerful so we got a bunch of non-flying 1/1 Servos instead. Maybe we'll get more Thopters in Aether Revolt! :-)
There is a pretty inexpensive infinite-combo Thopter deck though in Standard atm. I have no idea how competitive it is, but it looks fun. Check out, for example Infinite Kaladesh by alopexthewanderer.

The "it" card at the moment is Smuggler's Copter.
You either want some copies in your deck, and/or ways to deal with them.

Please be aware that spoilers have just started for Aether Revolt ... we'll have a new meta on Jan 20th.
