getting rid of those pesky artifacts / enchantments
Standard forum
Posted on April 9, 2013, 3:30 p.m. by Khanye
so I have 2 main decks for standard that utilize green / white (one naya blitz one, and one selesnya life gain one).
i have included a naturalize in both decks to combat the annoying artifacts / enchantments out there (blind obedience, assemble the legion, witchbane orb).
what card would be the best solution for this situation? is running 1 naturalize ok to do, or is ray of revelation better?
or should I get over it and just add another piece of aggro to add to the punch?
4 of them? not sure what I would take out to run 4...I guess if I am playing Esper, 4 would be merited, or is it better to try to rush them?
heres the decklists:

You could put like 4 in but do maybe 2 Naturalize 1Natural End and 1 Acidic Slime . That way you have options.

Ray of Revelation and Ancient Grudge ? sure you can only target one type per spell but my goodness they do work

I like Sundering Growth . Also gives you an extra dude to work with if you have tokens.

I would still say that you should either do 4 of one (depending on your metagame and how many artifacts/enchantments there are) or a combination of 4 (again depending on your metagame). From there just decide what your like in this department and go with it.

I second Sundering Growth my first support is Lingering Souls followed by Call of the Conclave and finally the new guy Advent of the Wurm.... nothing better than destroying something and netting a body

ok, so I am hearing to run 4 spells...sideboard for games 2 and 3, or run some main deck?
sundering growth is probably good for the selesnya deck, I just don't see it being useful for Naya.

well you can use them (Sundering Growth ) just in case someone kill your creature with Rapid Hybridization you can get another token :P

Your really pushing it with that lol, just use it to pump good tokens

If you have white in there, consider adding War Priest of Thune in the sideboard for enchantments. As for artifacts, there really isn't any problematic early artifacts that you need to deal with in the current meta as far as I know. Aside from (possibly) Runechanter's Pike .

winter orb? totally kills my double reckoner + blasphemous act win con ( i have actually used it multiple times), i think the enchantments are just hinderances, but there is shit ton of esper control running in my meta. I think Naturalize would be the best option

Sundering Growth is almost strictly better than Naturalize to begin with, especially if you're playing both Green and White.
The card that any control player hates to see resolve more than anything else is Acidic Slime . Against control, it kills everything but Planeswalkers just by resolving. Nephalia Drownyard , Witchbane Orb , Detention Sphere , Oblivion Ring , Staff of Nin , Blind Obedience , any land, Assemble the Legion , etc.
And flickering Acidic Slime can easily end the game.

thank you zandl. I guess the slime is worthy of inclusion for selesnya since I have the ramp in there. maybe run 2 of? and cloudshift them for added umph?
for the naya blitz package, isnt a 5 drop a bit high for spot removal on a non creature? I think maybe 1 of each (naturalize and ray of revelation) will be good for that sideboard.
thoughts?

No, Acidic Slime is appropriately costed and well in your range because it is at least a 2-for-1, you play it, they lose a permanent, then you wait to block with it, they lose something else... Acidic Slime is good

k, so now what do i take out for it?
main deck or sideboard?

what is your sideboard? and it should be a sideboard card, unless you are playing mainboard Restoration Angel s
April 10, 2013 9:43 a.m.
I've lost games due entirely to an Acidic Slime . If you're behind on your land drops or even if you have just enough to do what you need to do then they drop one of those you're basically done. Not to mention that it has deathtouch so it's a great blocker.

In the naya deck i'd remove the Selesnya Charm , Blind Obedience and the Ghor-Clan Rampager from the sideboard.
In the G-W i'd cut a main board Thragtusk
April 10, 2013 9:50 a.m.
the selesnya charm in naya is there mainly for obzedat / angel of serenity / thrag or to pump one of my own just in case. running it in sideboard and not main, for those purposes only
April 10, 2013 11:35 a.m.
i just realized i have 3 Fiend Hunter and 3 Oblivion Ring in the sideboard, which could take care of the enchants. sideboarded 2 Silverblade Paladin and 1 Naturalize , I think its good to go now.
