Gods and +1/+1

What happens to +1/+1 counters on Gods if a player suddenly loses the required devotion and the God ceases to be a creature? Can an enchantment retain those counters, or do they go away?

There is Llanowar Reborn which is a land that enters play with a +1/+1 counter, so maybe? Also this should be in Q/A.

Any kind of permanent can have a +1/+1 counter on it, but that counter is only relevant for as long as the permanent is a creature. +1/+1 counters have no effect on noncreature permanents.

Couldn't put it better than Epochalyptik does.

Worth noting that creature auras and equipment would however fall off a god when it ceases to be a creature AFAIK.

Counters of all kinds only ever disappear when a spell/ability specifically removes them or when the permanent they are on ceases to be on the battlefield.
