Grafdigger's cage prevents casting cards in graveyards and creatures like geralf's messenger undying trigger is prevented so it stays dead and gravecrawler cant be cast from the graveyard because thats casting and the same thing apply's to flashback. Anytime you would cast a card not in your hand librarys are included too. Tokens are a result of a spell resolving and are not effected but lingering souls has a flashback cost that cant be paid and used if grafdiggers is on feild. You can still target cards in graveyards to exile them.

Enter the obligatory "this is the perfect example of a question that could go into the MTG Q&A" section," comment.

jminute14 is correct. If a player would cast a spell from a graveyard by any means, then Grafdigger's Cage stops it. The most Standard-relevant example of this is Flashback; so while you can cast a Think Twice for 1U or Lingering Souls for 2W from your hand, you can't cast them from the graveyard for their flashback costs. Likewise, Snapcaster Mage 's entire EtB ability is basically nullified - he'll still give a spell flashback, but the Cage will stop you from being able to cast that spell.
Other methods of casting cards from your graveyard, like Gravecrawler , Retrace, or Chancellor of the Spires , are also stopped by the Cage. I'm not certain what you mean by preventing tokens.

Note that it also affects things like undying, Birthing Pod and Mayael the Anima because Grafdigger's Cage reads "...can't enter the battlefield from graveyards and libraries."

I think it's a slight misinterpretation of the rule, you don't cast tokens. You cast instants and sorceries that make tokens.

There are now spots for pre-thread comments? Whoooaaah. How can that happen?

RedCloud2012, I think he was aiming those comments in my direction, since I focused on the casting prevention and made it sound like it didn't stop creatures from entering (which was unintentional - I just focused on one half of the card, but I should've mentioned the other ability as well for best communication) and at the end of my answer I expressed confusion about how tokens factored into this.

haha, I'm sorry. I have this horrible habit of not reading comments that sit close to the ads. My bad, you're right though.

Either way...didn't mean to usurp anyone...I was referring to MagnorCriols comment. I'm trying to remember to specifically mention users but...you know...aging brain and all that business. lol

It says "player's cant cast cards from graveyards." So it doesn't technically stop tokens from entering the battlefield, but you can't cast Lingering Souls from the graveyard at all.
