Grixis vs Dega vs Dimir vs Izzet

I'm trying to figure out what deck to build for my first competitive Theros deck, and I'm torn between Grixis, Dega (or whatever the heck R/W/B is called), Dimir and Izzet. Obviously, I'm looking towards a more control-oriented deck, but I hate mill decks, so my win cons would most likely be creature/damage oriented (Aetherling, Ghost Dad, etc)

Grixis:

Pros: Badass Planeswalkers, Awesome removal suite, Steam Augery, Dissolve, Opportunity, etc

Cons: Tricolor, $$$$

Dega:

Pros: Whip of Erebos + Obzedat, Ghost Council + Master of Cruelties is hilarious. Boros Reckoner, Celestial Flare, Elspeth from white.

Cons: Tricolor, $$$$

Dimir:

Pros: Cheaper, Kill spells, Solid mana base

Cons: Might be better as mill

Izzet:

Pros: Good mix of counters and burn, Steam Augery, Spellheart Chimera, Ral Zarek(?)

Cons: Slow start, not sure if competitively viable

What do you guys think would be the best, and what will be the most fun to play come Theros?

I think that UW seems the best positioned to do well come theros, but obviously adding a third color wouldn't hurt as long as you don't mind spending a little extra cash. Izzet is pretty fun though...

its a tappedout only name. Back when the site had a community set going, it was based off of the wedges, and WBR got chavest, WBG got morglen and so on

Dude Izzet is totally viable in standard and Ral Zarek has done amazing wonders in my deck. Untapping lands or Lightning Bolt ing creatures or players his usefullness is so great. Now that like 75% of my Flashback burn deck is rotating out I'll need to reset it, but Nivix Cyclops plis the amount of scry you can generate with an Armed can be dangerous lol

atreyujames Ah, that's cool, I've only been around a year or so though, and even then was here just for deck builder haha.

DukeNicky, give Spellheart Chimera a go, it makes me sad to say it, but that thing has overshadowed Nivix Cyclops , unless you don't mind running them side by side. By the time I put my creatures to use in my deck the chimera was already of comparable power.

I have been a fan of grixis for the last year. I was originally a "control" player, but found my games going too long and it was strenuous on me if I played several rounds in a big tournament.

I recently decided to move to more of a "Grixis Midrange" style play that still uses sweet removal/counterspells, however it has more creatures than your average control deck and has some "out of nowhere" wins as well.

See if this may be up your alley: Grixis Superfriends
