Guild Champ Abuse

Ok, so some of the Champs from DGM are pretty good. Exava synergizes with Varolz, who is good all on his own, nicely. Lavinia can be blinked to keep detaining stuff. Tajic is a beast in com bat, and Mirko has a nice ability but I think he and Emmara fall short. Also, we have Ruric who can be nice against control, and we have Vorel....eh. I want to talk about Melek, though.
Melek, Izzet Paragon : please help me abuse this guy. His ability is so awesome and I want to make people face palm over it. His cmc is wicked high, though...so I only see him seeing play in a RUG deck with ramp to get him out early. Other than that, I am stumped. Please give me all your ideas on making him work, and then we can come up wita general idea of a deck and I'll see how it rolls at FNM. Thanks!

you could use Deadeye Navigator and Nightshade Peddler combo them with Izzet Staticaster and use other stuff like Soulsworn Spirit or Dungeon Geists to try and tie them up while you set up to use Melek, just some ideas

getting to 6 mana is next to impossible with out tricks. Ral Zarek
and Gilded Lotus
can get you there if the luck is on your side. Nothing in standard really sticks out with besides Izzet burn decks that can kill a ton of creatures.
I could see him as a future combo card but nothing in standard has any legs with this guy.
Hence the reason is the lowest guild leader of them all. For now.

you could use deranged assistant to help you with ramp while keeping izzet colors, he also helps with melek's ability if you have something undesirable at the top. index can also help out with his ability also.
