Has R/W/B control ever been solid in Standard?

I played an American Control deck at my local FNM, and went 3 and 2 matchwise. Not by any account terrible, but i noticed that I was the only one playing With those colors, I have also noticed a scarcity of these color in standard decks on tappedout; this makes me beg the question...

Have these colors ever had much success at all in standard? How good are they now?

Oh yea. Second in the gatecrash PT won with RUW Reckoner control. Two decks in the top 8 were RUW decks. RUW flash has been a thing in standard for quite a while, and Boros Reckoner brings so much more to the table. Check out the top 8 of the latest PT here: Here

URW Flash was very popular pre-GTC. Before that, post RTR, American Miracles stole the scene. I have not been up to date recently, however candlehawk apparently saw a form of it including Boros Reckoner .

URW is a very powerful color set that has shown itself in standard for 2-3 months solid.

To answer all your questions together I'd have to say WUR is a bit too good in standard right now, thus most of it's key components are expensive so only the more spiky FNM metas will be playing it. And Tappedout usually ends up with weirder, casual brews simply due to it's community being driven to be more of a casual set of people (one on this site for example likely won't upvote or comment on a sturdy competitive deck simply because there either isn't much to suggest or it looks way to similar to a pro's deck).

That sounds about right, my deck is home-brew and only uses the cheapest of walkers, no shocks, and no reckoners. When i say POOR me, i'm being literal
