Help with sweeps
Standard forum

Hi! I'm extremely new to the game and I've been having major trouble with decks that summon tons of creatures asap. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what a solid red or black sweeper is and that's not at too high of a mana cost. If this is in the wrong forum, I apologize and feel free to direct me to the right one!
Greatsword is on the money. Against highly aggressive decks, your best bet is to try to stabilize and generate more resources than they can. Usually this means drawing cards, but can also mean gaining life. For example, if you were dying to early aggro, playing a Whip of Erebos could help you climb back up to more respectable totals. It's hard to help you without seeing your deck.
Go ahead and make a deck here (top left corner) and list it as public. Then go over to the deck help forum and tag us there by typing our usernames within bouble brackets.
Mine would be [ [ TheDevicer ] ] without spaces. You can do the same thing with your deck.

The above two answers are right on. Two other Standard sweepers are Duneblast and End Hostilities. Nobody ever plays Duneblast, for some reason.
If you're playing against decks that use a lot of Enchantment cards, Back to Nature can wipe them out.
Doomwake Giant can wipe out a bunch of 1 toughness creatures by itself, and if you combine it with some other enchantments it can wipe out the other guy's whole board.
Another idea is to play blockers on your early turns. There are a lot of good ones in Standard -- Disowned Ancestor, Nyx-Fleece Ram, Dragon's Eye Savants, Ruthless Ripper, Wall of Frost, and Heir of the Wilds are all pretty good, depending on your deck.

You posted in the Standard forum so I'll assume you mean that format.
The mass-removal in Standard at the moment isn't that great, much less in Red and Black. The cheapest effective red sweeper is Anger of the Gods. Black has a few better ones like Drown in Sorrow and potentially Bile Blight.
