How competitive is U/W Heroic in Standard?

Iv'e been thinking about getting into some competitive magic again and I didn't want to spend money on a crazy expensive deck at first, just to get back into things. U/W Heroic seems pretty decent but does anyone who has played it at and FNM have any comments on the deck? Is it good enough to do well in a small competitive environment?

Thanks. I'll give it a shot and let you know how it goes.

I disagree with the above post. Abzan midrange is a favorable matchup due to how slow it is, and I've never seen a list run enough control in the side. Sultai control post board is rough. I've taken 2nd the last 2 weeks in a row with WU Heroic at my venue.

I'm no pro but I watched the pros. If it's good enough for Mtg Worlds, it's good. Conventional wisdom says it's good against Abzan, bad against Mardu, and playable against most everything else.

It's actually hard for removal decks if you have all the 1 and 2 mana protection spells. As long as you at least bluff up 1 white mana it feels scary to throw a kill spell into what might just pump their threat.

Competitive enough that your mistakes cause you to lose more often than the deck causing you to lose... When I play it at the LGS I normally top 8 unless I punt repeatedly.

It's a competitive deck and Tier 1 according to most people. It has some practically unbeatable draws (even against Mardu and Crackling Doom).
Because it is so focused on its own strategy and is proven to be able to pull of its synergy, it can really plow through any deck, outrace Tokens or Boss Sligh while using protection and card advantage against midrange and control.
All that being said, heroic can have some pretty awful draws and can't really get back when behind. Other decks can establish a lock on the heroic deck. After all, you're playing cards that are awful on their own, not packing rares and mythics like many Standard decks do.

The current standard is flooded with midrange strategies like Abzan, Mardu, and Sultai Whip. I've playtested a bit and the U/W Heroic deck seems to do well against Abzan, in fact that's probably one of it's best match-ups. By turn 4 or 5 when Abzan starts doing stuff I usually have one or two big creatures out plus a protection spell or two in hand. The Abzan deck just doesn't do enough in the first 3 turns. Sure removal can be an issue but if Abzan leaves up mana for removal it can't really play creatures efficiently.

Any green based deck(Abzan, whip, dvotio, ect) is a cakewalk. I have not lost any matches agaist those decks so far. The red based decks (Mardu, Jeskai) are a little more challenging and your about 50-50 against both of them. Control decks can be really good to, especially in SB games where you have 4-6 counters for their vaults(the only realy problem for you) and the fact the your drawing more cards then control will let you win the late game.
U/W has a high skill level and you will lose games from poor SB strategies where you dilute the deck to much. If your an experienced aggro player you will do well with the deck. But sometimes you'll lose by drawing poorly or playing poorly. Overall I find the deck to be one of the mosty fun and challenging decks in standard right now.
With Fate Reforged around the corner it's going to be hard to say how standard will look. Its so balaced and close right now, but a few cards can change that quickly.

Its good price wise and it can be competitive, just do as much play testing as you can the deck can be more complicated than it seems.

It's a decent deck, you will lose to Azban Midrange every time though and will likely die to Sultai decks that actually play removal. It's probably also the cheapest deck that you can play competitively, but it certainly isn't tier 1.
