so blue black is very mill themed and i like mill but i also like the sneaky cunning feeling of blue black. I also love Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver so guys help me make a Ashiok theme deck for standard that isnt just straight mill lol

There's a limited pool of good cards that fall in the Dimir colors that are not mill in the current Standard; unless you're looking at Mono-Black Devotion splash U or Mono-Blue Devotion splash B. You're pretty much doomed to mill in the current pool if you don't want to splash a third color (White usually for Esper), either.

I'd say brew a MBD splashing blue to use cards like Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver and other blue spells since the MBD shell is currently better that MUD's in most cases.

Bit of an old deck but you could something along the lines of this:What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine

Obviously not updated since Athreos and Hypnotic Siren would be a sweet addition... I may go back to this.

Going the Heroic/Constellation route looks like a pretty promising alternative to straight up mill.

Notion Thief + Master of the Feast could be fun(ny)

Could go aggro with flyers and lots of disruption/removal.

King Macar, the Gold-Cursed Agent of the Fates Ashiok's Adept Hidden Strings Triton Tactics

There's a deck there to be made. Not saying it's competitive, but it could annoy people running creature-based decks to no end.

Fun U/B deck that was thrown together fairly quickly...

Can probably be made more competitive... Deathrite Shaman may not be the best fit... and the Dictate of Kruphix 's are questionable due to possibly helping out your opponent when Notion Thief isn't out.

U/B Heroic is actually a very scary deck.

This was my deck for the first day of Theros in Standard: Zandl's Theros U/B (2nd/28 @ FNM)

There are plenty of options for U/B that don't involve mill.

An Ashiok not-mill deck? I really don't have a lot.

If you run Griptide , Time Ebb , or Totally Lost , you can knock powerful cards off the field, then exile them. It's not amazing because it is 1-for-1 removal, but it does give you the option to play cards the opponent cast via Ashiok.

You may also want to play Jace, Architect of Thought because he does something similar with his -8.

It's important to point out that Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver isn't a mill card. It's all about using your opponent's cards against him or her. It would take you about 13 turns to mill someone out with just Ashiok, anyways.

Ashiok's great! It comes out on turn-3 and goes up to 5 loyalty right away. If you can protect it, the -10 (while not necessarily a game-ending ability) will definitely cripple your opponent and Ashiok drops to 1 loyalty, staying put on the battlefield.

I've been toying around with Heroic in U/B recently. I don't know if it's quite ready yet for FNM. Heroic Dimir?

I've been working on a deck similar to what Ezrius mentioned. King Macar and Agent of the Fates control/disruption deck. It's been working out pretty well. Except against aggro. It's too slow to keep up with it right now :(

Feel free to check it out. Inspiring Perfection.

I can see Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver fitting well in the deck, but she doesn't fit my budget well at all. She is a very strong planeswalker though, and I think the deck would be able to keep her alive with the control it runs.

Dimir Control works fairly well. Lots of kill spells, hand disruption, good win cons, card draw. Pretty solid.

Dimir is good, except it's just too weak to burn.

Yeah, ever since Burn popped up, UB has had a very tough time getting any traction at all. UB has almost zero life-gain.

Where's Witchbane Orb when you need it haha. Splashing white could be a worthwhile addition to gain access to Aegis of the Gods , but then you get into an Esper control deck. And, a burn deck could kill a 2/1 creature in its' sleep.
