How do you see standard after EM comes out?

Standard forum

So I am still new to standard and don't really know where it will go from here, especially after losing some great cards from tarkir. The one thing that I can see remaining prominent after the other sets rotate out and EM comes into effect is tokens and some sort of recursion. If anyone could help me out as to what decks might come around that would be great.

@SandwichMan007,

If tokens are a thing, then everybody's going to wish that Virulent Plague should'ave stayed in Standard

Nothing is rotating when EMN releases, just an FYI.

Rotation only happens in the first set of a block.

The next rotation will be on the release of Kaladesh. When Kaladesh comes out at the end of September, DTK and ORI will rotate.

When codename "Barrel" releases in May of next year, after Aether Revolt, the BFZ block (BFZ and OGW) will rotate out.

Dragons will still be with us for EMA, but yeah. I assume white stays dominant with Displacer combo making an appearance again. I also think that Demonic Offering could be a new deck.

Jund Triska Formation will be a thing I believe.

Judging from spoiler season so far, there's going to be an absurdly strong GW midrange list with the new Thalia and Gisela in it. Thalia will also be carrying bant humans.

Personally I'm looking forward to trying out a variety of G/B/x decks, namely Tree-skadecka-formation and Emerge-evolution. Don't think the former will be Jund though - as the double red for Goldnight Castigator will be horrific to hit.

I suspect that in casual at the very least, many harmless kittens will be donated which will turn out not, in fact, to be harmless kittens but Demonic Pact's with 3 options taken.

A RB vampire madness deck could easily become popular, as several of the new cards for it look really strong (2 mana 5/5 robo-puppy anybody?) Both zombies and wolves are really struggling so far this spoiler season.

It looks like WotC are trying to push monoblue prison with all the blue spell-themed cards this set, so hopefully that will be more popular.

But yeah, overall I think that G/W/x decks will stay on top of the format, as they were the best already and have picked up a load of new tricks.

I'm with DaftVader; looks like is getting even stronger.

Considering the new Thalia, I'm not sure that any three-color mana base is going to be viable.

But yeah, maybe stands a chance at overturning the current (stale) meta?

And I'm still holding out hope that Werewolves will break thru :-)
