im thinking of putting it in my rakdos/RB deck is it good for a 3 drop? i understand scavenge is good but still any thoughts?

if you are looking for a good 3 drop for rakdos, i would definitely recommend Pyreheart Wolf . If your deck is complete aggro, this card will prevent your opponent from completely blocking the incoming damage.

I have a B/R Zombie deck, check it out deck:br-zombie-aggro-24-10-12-2
The best creatures to use for a B/R would be things like; Hellrider , Ash Zealot , Rakdos Cackler , card:Geralf's Messenger, Knight of Infamy .
Sewer Shambler is a little too slow for my taste, he is 3 cmc for a 2/1. There are many other creatures that can fill the spot. Swampwalk is not all that great, and scavenge shouldn't be a mechanic used in aggro r/b. Pick something with unleash.

Splatter Thug is the most underrated common in RTR. It's but a cut below Blade Splicer which was one of the best cards last standard.

Splatter Thug is wicked in limited. He can definitely have a place in a constructed format. Good call FROZR2

MTG Q&A isn't the place for discussions of card quality. Moving this.
That said. I have little insight on how he is in Constructed play, but he' fine in limited. Not exceptional, but he'll do some work. The scavenge cost is among the best among all the scavenge creatures, and plenty of people like playing black in draft right now (since Rakdos is pretty strong) so he's unblockable a reasonably high amount of matchups.

He's underwhelming in constructed, but definitely a decent pull in limited. Any of the low scavenge costs are typically pretty good in limited. This guy being unblockable a lot of the time is a huge plus.

this is what The Standard Zombies looks like to me. You don't need many three drops when you have so much else to do.

FROZR2, I disagree. Splatter Thug is good, but he's nowhere near where Blade Splicer was. Blade Splicer shut down any aggressive deck with a large first striking token that hits zombies hard and can finish the game, as well as being more of an awesome Restoration Angel target. Splatter Thug can't block, and he is a three mana commitment that does little to advance your board state in a deck where attacking with a 3/3 first strike and a 3/3 aren't much different. you might as well play Hellhole Flailer (it's much closer to being standard viable, right alongside Bloodfray Giant )

It isn't good.
