How to beat Hornet Queen

So I would say I am a pretty strong player. I often place in the top three at FNM and have done very well at PTS's etc. I am playing Abzan Midrange right now and I just cant seem to beat Hornet Queen, specifically in Sidsi Whip. I am currently playing a ton of hate in the sideboard for this deck and even then it seems to always get me. I find my first game is always bad. I will often get too far behind and just go to game 2 because my sideboard is so good. Then the last three weeks the game has gone to time because with both of us having Whip of Erebos and him having so many Hornet Queen's I cant fly over with my Wingmate Roc. I would eventually win each game two, but we always go to turns and I lose 0-1-1.

The card im wondering about is Stain the Mind as a one of and bring in Liliana Vess like normal to fetch that and try to grab Erebos, God of the Dead as well. Is it worth stripping him of all his Queens?

My friend is playing abzan whip, and is really liking Doomwake Giant against hornet queen. He actually maindecks 2, and has 1 in the SB.

You already have the Drown in Sorrow which is the best weapon for it. I've seen some people in my shop play 2 Windstorm in their side as well which also helps against Wingmate Roc in case you ever don't have one against theirs too. It actually won the PPTQ I was at a few weeks ago, so there's that too I guess

Yea I'd say Windstorm and Drown in Sorrow are the best defenses

Ya last night I used Drown in Sorrow twice to clear his board pretty much, but he would just whip back the hornet queen right after and now im back to having 4 hornets to block my Roc's. I would often use Tormod's Crypt at other points in the game to stop him from whipping back other creatures like Sidsi or Doomwake and there is only so many answers I can hope to draw.

If you really want to establish dominance though, I recommend this:

Play Platinum Angel. You can't lose, the card even says so. Your opponent may want it but you're foolproof with the card rules that overrule the game rules. Then play Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite. both the Hornet Queen and her tokens all die.

Then when someone tries to get you a game loss for playing an illegal deck just point to the Platinum Angel and do your best Lil' John impression...

as for beating hornet queen, the sweepers suggested are a must and Erase to keep them off whip to prevent recursion is also good

I hear Hushwing Gryff loves the Queen. Also, plummet, erase, unravel the aether, and tormods crypt all work well

With the new rotation, I think Silumgar, the Drifting Death is going to be your new friend.

Erase is a very good answer to the Whip and other enchantments that are very popular. Also, play more than one Utter End.
