How to choose which deck to run.

First world problem here: I'm currently in the situation of having playsets of basically every standard staple right now. I buy 3-5 packs a week and trade my way into cards. But with so many options I don't know what to do.
I've been sticking to my R/g monsters deck but I wanna branch out and play something different. But part of me feels like maybe I should stick with one deck and get really good with it.
How do you guys go about it? Do you make new decks often or do you stick with one deck and learn it's every intricate move?

Find a deck that best fits your playstyle and run with it, I say. If you want to switch up decks every once and awhile, do that. If you have access to the backbone to most decks of the format find your favorite. Personally I'm running Mardu Midrange and having a blast with it. I like the way Abzan Aggro looks as well, the midrange version seems super boring.

Yeah I can basically make any tier one deck at the moment. I made abzan midrange but I'm not sure if I really like the play style of it. Especially since the meta at my local card shop is Aggro I like to have a deck that can have a chance game one other than relying on the sideboard matchup and pray to win game 2-3.

My advice would be to try and brew something that is fun, but still powerful, or that wins consistently, while being kinda silly. You should be having fun above all else, and since you already have all the cards you need, winning prizes doesn't really mean a whole lot. I went 5-0 three separate times with a Simic Grindclock deck that was hilarious to play, but was hard to deal with. I consistently place in the top 4, regardless of the deck that I play, so I brew stuff up that is cool, fun, and sometimes hilarious. This also makes it hard to sideboard against you. Play a Sultai Aggro deck instead of Sidisi Whip, or play a Esper Midrange deck instead of control, or play a Mono-Black control deck instead of Aggro. Come up with something that's all your own, and if you win like I have, you will get no better satisfaction than placing high in a tournament with a completely original idea.

Really depends what you want to accomplish. For me, I'm just trying to prepare for large tournaments so i'm trying to put together a deck that's not only top tier but also one that I'm comfortable with and enjoy playing. Just find the mechanic you most enjoy and roll with it.

I have 2 decks that I run... Jeskai Tempo and Rakdos Tempo-ish. They are both fun to play, but I have to say, I used a lot of my ideas for Jeskai deck from the Pro Tours...so it's possibly my more competitive and expensive deck, definitely Tier 1. While my Rakdos is completely original and I don't believe I've seen one like it...similar, but not really. It still needs work, but it also has that surprise factor.

There are loads of great tips here, but to be honest, I reckon it's much more of a personal preference. Some people love to be playing with a deck for a long time, get to know it, know how every matchup works, and that's great. Other people, like me, just want to experience all the different magic we can. I'm building an Abzan midrange at the moment, because I love grindy decks, but it's not done yet. So I'm bringing GB Strength from the Fallen with a blue splash just for Thassa, God of the Sea next FNM, since I don't have any Nylea, God of the Hunt. And next week, it'll probably be something different again, maybe something more like WB control/midrange. And some people wouldn't do that because it's not what they enjoy. It's all about just finding out what you want out of the tournaments you go to, and out of magic in general.

I build what I find fun and work well for me, but, I also normally build to win. I happen to know that Red, Blue and Green all suit me so my decks tend to be a variation of those colors. I only have 1 deck that is finished that I built myself and that was my first deck I made. And I've had it since the 10th Edition.

I normally run / decks but KTK / is so weak I've been using this instead . If u have the cards for it, built it and test it out. It's hella quick & powerful. I love the deck. Wants to win by T5. Lifted Research Group [Post Rotation]

My deck is a little more of a home brew build, but i gave American Control a shot this rotation, i'm always top 3 at my LGS with it, so I can't complain. I guess it all depends on what kind of playstyle you really prefer, control has always been a love of mine, along with mill.

The best way to decide what deck to run, is to do what lets you have fun. I tend to brew a new deck every month or so, just to see what sticks, and that allows me to go back to ones I've enjoyed, or stay with one that is really fun. (And if I had playsets of everything, I'd probably switch it up more than that).
Especially if you're playing at a FNM level, just enjoy yourself! Plus, getting comfortable with a wide variety of decks will better serve you later for playing against them.

I am a poor jobless college student, so I can't spend much on cards anymore. Hell, I still haven't finished my cheaper MGD deck, and there weren't too many pieces I was adding, let alone my brand new Abzan build. So when I build a real life deck, I tend to play it until it rotates out. It doesn't get too boring for me since I don't really play that often, unfortunately.
