How to make Dimir more Sultai

Hey everyone. I'm wanting to make a UB control deck but it has obvious issues with enchantments. Its only answers to that are counterspells and and either 9 mana or two turn card in the form of perilious-vault. So, long story short, I'm splashing green for Sultai Charm. Now since I'm technically going green, i'd like some other green cards that are worth the splash. Now, most importantly, this isn't a sultai control deck or sultai superfriends, so Satyr Wayfinder will not be a good choice as this has a UB control shell.

Rakshasa Deathdealer out of the sideboard is bad news for most control mirrors. A 1-of Garruk, Apex Predator is good for late-game lifegain as well as potentially getting rid of Ugin.

Satyr Wayfinder is great choice and probably the next green card to consider after Sultai Charm. It helps you fix mana, hit land drops, provides an early chump blocker, and fuels delve. These are all things that U/B wants and it fits the shell. Wayfinder + Charm + U/B Control = Sultai. Kiora and Garruk are good but not essential. Rakshasa Deathdealer tends to be good out of the board in mirror matches. Another card I've seen the deck sideboard is Feed the Clan for aggro matchups.

The answer is Villainous Wealth. The answer is always Villainous Wealth.

Unless it's Dictate of Karametra to make your Villainous Wealth bigger.

Nice guys thanks, I really like the idea of Garruk, Apex Predator and Villainous Wealth due to the large amounts of control and midrange decks going around, still not sure on the Satyr Wayfinders still substituting them with Jeskai Sage but will look into it, thanks.

Just run 4 Opulent Palace main and 4 Back to Nature in the side. Then call it a day.

I like Satyr Wayfinder way more than Jeskai Sage. It will let you play less land and still hit your first 5 or 6 land drops which are essential. I'd say 4 Wayfinders + 26 land or no Wayfinders + 28 land is how control decks in Standard work at the moment. So you're only wasting 2 slots on Wayfinder. Villainous Wealth doesn't really work in a control deck. First, it's a sorcery so you'll be open to Disdainful Stroke or getting burned out at instant speed. Second, you won't get crazy amounts of mana in a control deck. At most you'd be casting it for X=6 and that's not that amazing, especially if you hit a couple of lands off the top. I'd say the only deck to play Villainous Wealth is an a G/B Devotion shell splashing blue.

You can also splash white for Erase and have more access to removal in general like Utter End and Banishing Light

omnipotato: Villainous Wealth is pretty bad in control without Dictate of Karametra on board- casting x = 11 is pretty damn good. Of course, it's the dedication of 6-8 slots on two cards that don't work without one another, so your mileage may vary.

It's not good, but it's not unusable.

Ruthless Control of the Black Fang

I've been doing this for about a month, and I've had 1 event where I did not top 8 with the deck. Just to give you a starting point.

Here are my findings:

Garruk, Apex Predator is a boss in this format. There are a lot of decks running at least 1-2 Planeswalkers, so he REALLY likes hunting here.

Kiora, the Crashing Wave in this shell ults 9-10 times. Since we have draw power in control, we don't need her explore, so tick her up to victory.

I've tried out Sagu Mauler as a sideboard option and liked it, just wanted to run other things instead. Things like Tasigur, the Golden Fang. Tasigangsta is ridiculous because even if they kill him, more than likely you spent one on him, and you're getting an activation off. I want to try Rakshasa Deathdealer but unfortunately don't have the copies. A buddy of mine tried it in Sultai and liked it, so you might want to try it out yourself.

Forgot to mention the above list was also brought to Gameday and is about 80% in casual matches I play at the shop.
