Farseek . Farewell, friend.

Born of the Gods doesn't release for a few months still, but I have my eye on the horizon in hopes of a ramp spell being released.

Sylvan Caryatid just doesn't cut it in a deck playing Supreme Verdict .

So what are the chances? As far as I see, precedent says standard always has at least one decent ramp sorcery (Farseek , Cultivate , and Rampant Growth cover the last 4 years or so). Think we'll get one or is creature ramp the new deal?

There will be one, and it'll be call the Pilgrimage, it'll be a two cost sorcery that fetches one of the temple and puts it into play tapped.

Book it.

Will not. If they were going to do something like that, they would have given the temples a subtype, like they did Gates in RTR block.

I was being goofy, it'd be way too wordy to have a temple specific fetch short of making it for individual temples which would piss me off right good.

They should give us back Farseek so I can keep using the promos I got over the summer.

Aside from that, I don't really mind, I'm playing esper this season.

I suppose there are the cluestones and keyrunes, but at 3 mana, they just don't have the early impact we need them to.

Not a fan of the 3 CMC mana rocks, except for Chromatic Lantern . That card is awesomesauce.

yeah but if the format slows down more and more as the rest of the block is released, like they've been talking about since theros dropped, then a 3cmc mana rock will feel fast compared to everything else

@abenz419 I don't think a mana rock will ever feel fast.

mana fixing is not an issue in standard as there are a plethora of shocks as well as the release of addition temple scry lands soon. So if anything, the need for a 3cmc mana rock to ramp or fix will be completely and utterly unnecessary, however, a 2cmc ramp sorcery spell would help immensely, especially if it fetches anything other than basic's.

Gatecreeper Vine : for a while there I swore by gate's, then they printed scry temple's, but for a minute there, Gatecreeper Vine was effectively better than Rampant Growth simply because it was that on a 0/2 defender stick, how is that not better, aside from the inherint flaw of having to run tap land gates in general..

But Lay of the Land and Gatecreeper Vine are lands into hand. That's good and all (it's basically ETB: draw a card) but it isn't the same as ramp.

Although if Wizards favors the devotion mechanic too heavily maybe it will have to be a permanent to be playable.

@Behgz I was just merely trying to point out that you need to view it in perspective. If the format continues to slow down then it will effect everyone. So, even a 3cmc mana rock will help you ramp, especially after the shock lands rotate out. So, if there isn't anything cheaper and better to play in the next couple of sets then it will still allow you to play things faster than your opponent, who will also be effected by the slower format especially if they don't have any kind of ramp. Of course it will feel slow compared to the way the format has been, but in comparison to the direction the format appears to be heading it will be considerably faster.

If the standard format slows down more than what it already has then Xenagos, The Reveler will look that much better.

abenz419 says... #16

it's gonna slow down at least a little more after the Theros block is completely out because there will be no more shock lands. Anyone playing a multicolor deck is gonna be forced to used lands that come into play tapped, so mono colored decks will be the fastest. Which is what they wanted.

unless they reprint buddy lands in M15

WoTC stated they wanted to slow the format down (hence, no 2 mana ramp unless you use Sylvan Caryatid ).

3 mana ramp spells are the "new thing" with the keyrunes, Chromatic Lantern , Verdant Haven etc

Looks like the new "jump" will be from to 5 for awhile if you want "creatureless" ramp
