I've been running a 4 color midrange deck sense rotation and its been great, I'm just wondering is it because I'm just getting lucky or is 4 color really viable in standard

Splashing a 4th color has proven to be pretty potent as it gives you access to the best cards in 4 colors. There was a deck posted on SCG that was sultabzan that seems pretty scary to compete with.

That is a linknto the article explaining a little about the deck btw.

Maybe but if you're in green and 4 color it seems like the best idea would be to run Caryatid anyway, since it fixes so well and works great against mardu. The only exception I could see is if you only splash green.
