Is Hangarback Walker's 15 mins of fame over?

With the death of the UR Ensoul deck with rotation, I was considering a UR or Grixis colourless deck to get some more play out of Hangarback Walker and Ghostfire Blade. But with the large amount of exile spells being introduced in BFZ, is Hangarback no longer the solid bomb it once was?

I know the card hasn't really hit in Modern because of Path to Exile so I'm curious if Standard has the same problem

No, Modern Affinity plays it in most lists now. It's a solid card. In standard I think to will still be a problem. It's too efficient of left unchecked for its time to be over.

It's 15 minutes of fame never even happened, in this house.

That's because of a little card we had called Silence the Believers.

On the contrary. It is now exploding in popularity in vintage, and being seriously brewed with in Modern.

It's been tested in Affinity but hasn't put up promising results. The latest forms of affinity do not run it at the moment, and as Affinity player myself I don't like it in the deck as I feel it slows me down.

Other than Vintage there has been a lot of brewing since its been released and it could go either way, I feel the card has potential and may still do well in standard and other than vintage I'm not sure how many homes it'll find outside of that. Though keep in mind in modern I play Affinity and my secondary is G/R Tron.

As of now it's a meta call / sideboard option in affinity. I also believe it is a promising card in vintage. In standard I don't see him leaving soon. Utter End will see more play, but that's a 4cmc card and never a 4-of. Stasis Snare is hard to justify with Dromoka's Command running around and Complete Disregard is pretty narrow.

It's not going to go away completely; it's found a place in Vintage, some Standard decks still use it and I've seen it in EDH decks. But I'd be very surprised to see much of it in Modern.

Uh, no. Hangarback Walker is going to be one of the very best cards in Khans/BFZ Standard I am confident.

I still like it in decks with Retreat to Kazandu along side Managorger Hydra... and possibly Hardened Scales... though I still flip back and forth on the Scales.

I hope it retains it's value... I pulled two. If only it hadn't been a draft... the same pack I got my second one in also had a foil Evolutionary Leap

Sweet. As of now the msrp of the event deck is half the price of all the cards in it, so my guess would be that all cards in it will lose up to half their value, inc. Hangarback. From $18 to $10, just like with Collected Company.
