I am wondering if izzet control could be a competitive deck build in standard I wanted to do something a little out of the ordinary so I wanted to try control bud did not want to do one of the mainstream control decks like esper America or rakdos si I took red from America control and the blue from the rest and thought of izzet control do you think this could be a thing
Yea idk just an idea I had but I was planing on running a lot of counter and things like anger of the gods and other burn spells an than cards like curse of the swine to turn there stuff into two twos and than do an anger of the gods idk just an idea like I said if you have any ideas let me know

Blue white red looks pretty decent just looking at the god. you still get detention sphere and supreme verdict. its hard to tell with only 30 cards out but its a possibility. the only issue is you lose out on a lot of removal from black and thoughsieze and if you grixis you lose sphinxes rev and verdict

Any control deck without Sphinx's Revelation will not be as good as one with Sphinx's Revelation.

It's certainly possible to build a UR control deck, there are enough cards to make it work on some level. The issue is that it's just worse than UWx. The card draw is worse, the sweepers are worse, you loose valuable win-conditions, loose access to the ability to handle a lot of non-creature permanents, etc. There's not even a big pay off, Counterflux is nice to have in the control mirror but there really isn't much else to rewards you for being strictly UR. And if UW really wants and of those cards then they just splash into UWR.
So yes, but it's strictly less competitive.

In this standard, UW is the dominate colors of control. Come JIN I'll be trying to make a american control deck, because I love izzet. And of course for my love of jank. UR jank deck. Nothing beats winning with jank.

Izzet control has the best prospects post rotation, but for now remains the weakest out of any control build.

Wait until rotation to experiment with that.
Until then, it's strictly worse than the UW package.
I do believe, however, that both Whelming Wave and Anger of the Gods will be really pretty sweet once UW leaves.

I tried and tried to make it competitive, and it just didn't work. The problem was that Mizzium Mortars couldn't kill a single actual creature in most of the Jund Monsters lists. It could handle the UW control match because of Counterflux and 2x AEtherling , but lost to a lot of decks that simply played Desecration Demon or Polukranos, World Eater . You can check out my old list at IZZET PUNNY ENOUGH FOR YOU TO UPVOTE?! for ideas =)

The new red card that doubles all damage lets you build a Izzet burn/counter deck that might work. Not sure about it untill all the nyx cards are out however..

At this point in the game, I think that if it isn't already a thing to some degree, it probably won't be a thing. Until Sphinx's Revelation and Supreme Verdict rotate out, UWx control will dominate the competitive scene.
Now, you could always try out the Counter Burn strategy, but I feel that it is just a little lack luster with the burn suite available in standard right now.
