Is it worth it?

I have a really good playgroup of 5 other people. We play casual with vintage restricted list. I've recently moved near a card shop that only hosts standard and rarely edh. No casual. Is it worth getting into standard if i cant make it to fnms? I work 1145am to 1030-1100pm on Friday.

You're in an unfortunate situation.
Consider getting into online Magic. It's comparatively cheaper, and you can play any format at any time. The only major problem is that you lose the face-to-face interaction of paper Magic.

Standard is a beast and unless you have unlimited funds, your really not gonna break out until you have at least a season and a half under your belt worth of that sets money maker rares, all of new rav is gonna rotate in about a year, whereas theros will be around for twice as long. I would suggest investing in theros, and then when the next block comes out you'll be fully invested in theros and can start acquiring the good stuff from the next block, which should be manageable over time, as opposed to buying all of new rav and theros standard singles all at once, which would break the bank of any casual magic player.
if that doesnt work for you, I'd reluctantly suggest the duels of the planeswalkers video games on ps3, xbox, and steam. Granted those games can be fun, once you play with every deck it starts to get repetitive. Before you get it, I bought the android version of DOTP 2014 and it crashes all the time, I do not recommend that verion of the game.

I have an old duels of the planeswalkers on my 360. It is very repetitive. And very basic.

Short answer: No, probably not.
It takes a lot of money to stay invested in Standard as a format. If you can't consistently play in Standard events, then it's hard to justify putting in the money.
