Its the only god with 3 cmc and scry and unblockable

Just letting you know, wizards likes to give blue the cheaper stuff. Look at Lord of Atlantis compared to Goblin King and so forth. In my opinion, it is the best of the gods, but no it isn't a broken card.

I agree, I don't think this card is broken. It gives great card advantage, and if played in a deck where 5 devotion is achievable, it becomes even stronger. But no, I wouldn't consider it broken. The format is still intact.

Eh.... I don't see it. She lets you Scry... 1. So you can look at the top of your library and see if you want to draw it or take the risk that the next card is actually better. And you won't get this effect, odds are, until Turn 3, so it won't matter until Turn 4. And she can make creature unblockable, but odds are, that won't happen until Turn 4. In terms of providing quality advantage she is way behind Sensei's Divining Top , which comes in on Turn 1 and lets you draw an extra card or see the top three. And I don't think that the unblockable granting makes her too good either.

Blue has practically no ramp, it's expectable that some blue cards are cheaper to maintain an overall equality. Anyways, it's different if you see the gods and their weapons as unit when comparing them to each other. They're built to synergize, after all. Nylea and her bow for example give deathtouch and trample to all your creatures without activation cost, what is a good counterpart to paying 2 for one unblockable and drawing a card. The bow even has this insane toolbox ability with four(!) choice effects. I would value that higher as Thassa's Scry. When it comes to what god is better without a weapon, I'd say purphoros is better than thassa. Direct damage on every etb (double damage in 2hg!), and mana-relative buff for all creatures? Yay!

However, broken isn't the appropriate term for a card that seems a little bit off-balance when evaluated out of it's context. Broken is used for a card that is either so powerful that it affects the metagame in a negative way, or for a card that can easily be abused in combination with other cards to create effects that are overly powerful in relation to the cost and win the game too early or too easy.

I'm going to stay away from the term "broken" since that means different things to different people, but Thassa, God of the Sea is a damn good card. It's the main reason why MUD is playable, let alone a Tier 1 deck. It allows you to Scry past all of the derpy creatures in the deck to find the win cons, and adds to the evasive nature of the deck. Its only drawback is that it has to be played in a deck that can make 5 Blue Devotion happen, which doesn't leave a lot of great options for other permanents.

Thassa is a fantastic card in standard, I'd even run her in EDH. The ability to reliably scry before drawing every turn is fantastic, but she's not broken. She's very hard to activate and can actually be removed with a variety of cards.

SpammyV you do realize standard is the format being talked about here. This card is far better in standard then eternal formats.

I feel like Thassa, God of the Sea , while definitely not broken, is a very powerful card.....in the right deck. It seems to me that she would shine in either BUG or just straight UG. Here's my logic

T1 ~ forest, Elvish Mystic (or any other G mana dork)

T2 ~ land, thassa

T3 ~ scry 1 at upkeep, oh another mana dork, puts on bottom of library

Having what I call the "look see" advantage on turn three is very strong. And when played in green her unblockable becomes all the more useful as you can make your bombs get through.

When it comes to eternal format value I really can only say that I run her in a Vorosh, the Hunter EDH deck and she has let me kill with commander damage on several occasions. However where legacy or modern are concerned I feel she is too slow.

I just hate a 5/5 indestructible creature that's able to make itself unblockable. The ability should be "another target creature," or swap it with Bident of Thassa .

Thassa is so good that she makes cards like Frostburn Weird and Nightveil Specter playable. The fact that those terrible cards still see play because of Thassa speaks wonders for her power level. Sure, MUD uses Master of Waves as an additional finisher, but Thassa is the card that truly shines in the grindier games.

Ok so its not broken however having an indestructable permanent with a constant scry and the ability to make 1,2,3 creatures unblockable for only 3 mana is ridiculous if you ask me. You don't even have to reach 5 devotion to make her presence known.
