I'm curious if you think if the Jeskai Heroic combo deck is viable to stay for a while or is it the flavor of the week?

It's much easier to break Jeskai heroic than it was for it to break standard. It's a good deck but needs all its peices. Stain the mind , erase, even artifact hate for springleaf drum screws it. It just was the right deck to play because there were so many xerox copies of decks ill equiped to deal with it. This is why the pros have premium articles on Starcity to help you put a meta buster together based on an antisipated field for the next big open. the next open will probably have 200 copys of that deck because its cheap as doo doo and trending. So pros will play an aggressive deck that kills heroics strategy to win a majority of their matches. Its like a set up almost, though it takes a good pilot and the right deck to squeak out a win and cause a stir. Hats off to the oriental guy with a Russian name I can't think of.

I'm of the opinion that it is the real deal. I've played one sanctioned match against it now and came away impressed. It played like a typical heroic deck for the most part and presented a legitimate aggro plan. It also being able to win when stonewalled by sequencing spells correctly and drawing well makes the opponent play control while also needing to apply pressure at the same time. That's hard for a lot of decks to do right now.

Not just jeskai heroic, but jeskai ascendancy combo is the real deal. You are just playing your build and EVERYONE else has to have a plan or sideboard to stop that combo or lose. The fact that it goes off so consistently on turn four is just proof that it is here to stay. I have not seen it for myself but i hear the modern version is even more sickening and hard to deal with. As ColdheartedSith mentioned it needs it pieces but it digs to them so effectively that it tends to not be a problem. In regards to the heroic version i am not that informed. In regards to the ascendancy combo version(using green and zero drops with the altar and the helix), I have seen that build win time and time again.Sure its easy to dismantle but you better have the cards or the sideboard to do so or you will just get milled out or have your blockers sent back to your hand and swung on for the win. The later of the two i mentioned is super frustrating to deal with.

To be fair, the heroic part is pretty beatable in the current caryatid/courser metagame. But the combo part is the real deal (and waaaaay better than the 4 color combo).
I might have to dust off my playset Stain the Mind.
