Landfall and fetches

So I want to build a landfall deck. Fetchlands would be essential for this since they basically let you get double the landfall triggers. I don't have a big problem investing in fetches because they will retain value, but after the fetches rotate out with SOI, will landfall still work at all? I don't see a point in building a deck that will have to be scrapped in 2 months. thoughts?

If you're looking at a landfall aggro strategy, Atarka Red will continue to be pretty damn good until the Command rotates out. If you're looking for a Midrange/Tempo landfall strategy(Retreats), it will definitely be weaker, but if you're playing casually, it will still be a lot of fun and could pull a win a few times. Either way, fetches are amazing investments, and I would recommend getting them whether you build landfall or not.

There will likely be some landfall enablers in SOI, at worst, there will be some efficient R/G beaters.

You could always use stuff like Swell of Growth to up your landfalL triggers as well, so I think it's worth it.
Otherwise, must haves are Omnath, Locus of Rage, Cinder Glade, and maybe Akoum Hellkite.

at worst, when ktk fetches rotate, you could run evolving wilds to get the most out of landfall triggers.

Tactic: Wait until you're swinging to pop multiple Evolving Wilds/Fetches at once. If you don't need their grab right away, pop them later all at once.
Mina and Denn, Wildborn would help with this so you don't really miss a land drop. You'd just need card draw.

You have to remember all the cards that were given to us to cheat lands into play. Ruin in Their Wake, Nissa's Pilgrimage, Natural Connection, Swell of Growth, Atarka's Command, Explosive Vegetation, Nissa's Renewal.
There's no doubt the fetchlands add incalculable value to landfall decks, but even if they leave, these cards allow the opportunity for more than enough land drops. These cards are also the reason why ramp decks can still survive in Standard without the turn 1 mana dork.

If you are going for a specifically landfall-based deck, I think it would be worth it. The only thing that would be expensive in the deck would be the fetches, and as you said, they will retain their value. Other than the lands, the deck would cost you under $50, most likely. Unless you run Atarka's Command. Then it will not be under $50. That's just my thought.
