Is there any news on if Birds of Paradise will be reprinted in this Ravnica block?

Nope.

Might want to wait until Dragon's Maze preview season starts...

I don;t think we need birds in standard, that's why we aren;t getting it. With the excessive mana oppurtunities, you can play whatever colors you want, and with 2 good mana dorks in standard, birds won;t make much of an impact anyways.

Is that a joke? Birds of Paradise is like the most flexible mana dork of all time..

Yes it is, but with the shocklands and core set/innistrad dual lands, 3 and 4 color manabases are already easy to pull off.

I really don't want standard to turn into decks running Arbor Elf , card:Avacyn's Pilgrim, and Birds of Paradise to see who can get Thragtusk out on turn three.

We have two types of every two-color combo land, Llanowar Elves , card:Avacyn's Pilgrim, Farseek and many other great mana-fixing and mana-gaining abilities. Birds of Paradise would be needed if we already don't have 2 1-drop mana dorks and many other mana loving goodness.

LOL if you're comparing Birds of Paradise to card:Avacyn's Pilgrim...oh man. And Llanowar Elves aren't standard legal..sylvannos how many ramp decks do you see compared to Boros or Naya? Boros Reckoner shut Thragtusk down so hard.

My mistake, it was late last night, I meant Arbor Elf and of course those two care comparable to each other, they're lesser versions in most decks, sure, but Birds of Paradise are not needed in a format with:

A) so much mana fixing as we have in Standard right now.

B) have so many dorks and mana fixing in standard right now.

The point of Standard is not to constantly print the best of everything into oblivion, that is why we have Cancel and Dissipate but not Counterspell or Force of Will . Standard is a careful mix of things that make certain builds of decks easier or harder, guided by R&D, to make sure everything is balanced yet not all the same. Sometimes, we get Lightning Bolt other times, we have to use Searing Spear .

We're not saying that any of the dorks we have are better than Birds of Paradise . Obviously they're not. WHat we are saying is that printing birds would be a detriment to the format, making it too easy to get out high power creatures ar cmc 5 or 6 on turn 3.

Yea. Already with a potential 2 playsets of mana dorks and 4 Farseek s it's already too easy to slam out Thundermaw Hellkite or Thragtusk on turn 3.
