M14 Event Deck: I like it!

My local card shop has had it out for a while with an opened box so we can look through it before buying it. I looked through it once or twice and thought about it. I looked in the case and saw that Stomping Ground is going for $24.99. That pretty much had me sold, seeing as to how it comes with a copy and costed me 19.99 for the deck. Sure, they probably inflated the price so people would buy the deck for that exact reason, but even after I looked it up, it turned out to be a $19.99 deck with a $14.99 card in it. It turned out to be awesome too. What are your thoughts on the deck, and what should I add and take out to make it more efficient? I am thinking of adding a couple more Mizzium Mortars . That has saved me a couple times.

I am pretty certain its the Gatecrash one. I figured they inflated their price to sell you the deck, because its $24.99 at both stores I went to. Kind of strange doncha think. Also, I am looking into getting another one if you have one for trade!

The GTC Stomping Ground is $11-15 max. Those stores are ripping you off.

<,< The LGS near where I live sells all shocklands for $10. /bragging
I'll have to check, but if the price of a land goes up because of an event deck, I'm gonna be pissed.

The event deck won't affect the price of Stomping Ground . Even if it did, the price of Stomping Ground would go down, but up.

Its all the business tactic. Regardless, thats (worst case scenario) a $10 card in a $20 deck. At their lowest prices, theres about $30 of rares in the deck. Im usually not so stupid about exact prices, its just nice to not feel like I wasted so much money. Plus I am getting a little experience in a different type of deck. It works great. Very quick damage and field presence.

if you are worried about wasting money, magic isnt for you.its so easy to spend $500 or more just buying 10-20 cards for a deck.

Hey it never hurt to try to save money. My human deck didn't do terrible at FNM and theres probly 50-$60 in there. I play casual and standard. There isnt a card in standard worth more than $40, and my at home-play friends dont play with rediculous cards as we like to make casual games as casual as possible. You will spwnd that much in EDH, legacy, Modern, but thats not what I play so I am pretty content.

Actually, EDH can be fairly cheap as well. I build a Bant deck of almost all C/U and bulk rares and it wins regularly.

Thats kind of hopeful. I played a sample game of EDH and enjoyed it. The employee let us use their very expensive decks to test out the format. The one I used had $1,500+ of cards, it was incredible to hold them in my hand. I can see how the bulk rares could make a good EDH deck. Alot of those rares are way underrated.

The biggest thing to remember is you can make a budget work in EDH if you can design a deck properly. I play with a $3000 tournament deck and a $50 casual deck, and I love them both. They work because they're put together to work.

liliana of the veil. thats $50, so theres one card worth more then $40.also most expensive mythics in foil are over $50.
I thought u were playing competitive magic, sorry.I also have a mono green deck and went undefeted at my FnM 4 weeks in a row and i didnt even have a sideboard the first week. It only cost me $40. As is doesnt need expensive dual lands and the only rares in it are Wild Beastmaster and Champion of Lambholt

Even at 40 it can get pretty pricey also Liliana of the Veil is 39.99 on starcity the king of high prices so I dont know where you get 50. Foils are not nessacary to play with yes they cost more but you dont need them.
Op, are you sure ot was gatecrash as if it was theyre tripping however guildpact looks the same and is 24.99
Also aside for a small fe most shocks are 5-8 dollars now I just bought 4 godless shrines and 4 breeding pools on amazon for 48 dollars shipped

@Cyber Locc: No shock is below $8-9 market value. eBay and Amazon prices are not reflections of market value.

I've seen a few drop to $7, but that's it and only for a little bit. I saw them when I checked tcgplayer for shock prices after pulling a Hallowed Fountain and Temple Garden from 3 RTR packs I bought one day.

Also, the DGM event deck Strength of Selesnya has a Godless Shrine , if you wanted a similar deal. Stomping Ground is worth a bit more than Godless Shrine , but the two decks play differently.

Epochalyptik I wasnt basing off amazon granted I mentioned that I bought them that way so I see how you could think that. I was basing off tcg they fell hard and rose back some but just as acbooster said there was a point about a week or two ago where they were 5-8 dollars for all of them. Now the prices have fluxed since then but thats how it goes. I know the same could be said about tcg but I dont know 1 person that buys from starcity with there inflated prices.

I buy from SCG all the time. I support them because they're a good business and they actually care about customer service.
That said, I don't buy easy-to-find stuff from SCG. I'll trade for shocks and save my money to buy Imperial Seal s when they go on sale.

@Epochalyptik, how good is SCG's service? I've looked at their prices occasionally but their prices seem stranger than other sites I frequent. I use magiccards.info for pricing, and compare that with cardkingdom and coolstuffinc, the two sites I use. Compared to those three sites, SCG has average/above average pricing, especially on standard cards. It feels like sometimes they price a card based on what they believe that card to be worth in the near future, not by what other sites are selling for at that moment.

SCG is a good business. They know how to play the market. That said, their stock is phenomenal (tell me who else stocks foil Russian Loxodon Warhammer s). They offer decent prices on lots of EDH-playable foils and nonfoils, and they routinely stock foreign cards.
Their service is also excellent. They ship in a timely and secure manner, and they will always call you if there's any kind of problem with anything. I have yet to find an online retailer that provides service as reliable as SCG.

Wait, what printing of Stomping Ground is your LGS selling?
