Meandering Towershell- Sleeper Hit?

I don't know about anyone else playing this guy, but Meandering Towershell has been doing serious work in my Temur deck. Yeah, people present his exile and return ability as a downside, but it's built-in evasion, with Temur Ascendancy in there, he doesn't have a dead turn AND you get to draw a card (though having him to block is quite nice- his ass is so big, not much kills him), and if you run Temur Charm , Savage Punch , or any other fight mechanic main board, he's virtually guaranteed to kill whatever he fights. I have been quite pleased with his performance. Anyone else having good luck?

Just gonna point out that if someone Act of Treason s him they get to keep him for the rest of the game.

That alone might keep him from being terribly effective in the long haul.

Meandering Towershell + Temur Ascendancy is a SUPER Johnny, Combo Player combo. That said, it deals 2.5 damage per turn, and against decks without Islands he's pretty bad. Mardu or B/W decks can create plenty of tokens to block it and Abzan Midrange can usually hit you for more when the Towershell is away.

it's cute, but it's not going to revolutionize standard.

I'm working on a deck with him in it atm (not nearly finished though)Not revolving around him but a good add I think. In that deck I want him to work with Stormtide Leviathan , Chasm Skulker , Hardened Scales and Bow of Nylea

Islandwalk, +1/+1 deck I think it's perfect for him. You can use him as a great defender up untill you can throw in the Leviathan from then on out the opponent doesn't have much attacking possibility's left so you can just use him on the offence with his Islandwalk. Chasm skullker can grow huge with +1/+1's and if the opponent manages to kill him you get a legion of islandwalkers for it.

Well I guess it's a good card but like said before not a great one. Since it's good in some decks but will never be the center of the deck

It's got a nice body for 5 mana, but is highly unlikely to deal any serious damage in the long term. The exile ability, although giving built in evasion, essentially means that it will only be able to deal damage every 2nd turn. I do admit that it is good for triggering Temur Ascendancy and Garruk's Packleader .

It's not a huge threat, but it's pretty well priced and works well with other cards. A lot of people didn't think much of Prognostic Sphinx early in last year's meta either. Better in the sideboard against control shells, dodges removal and they usually have few chumps, but there are ways to give him Trample.

I really like Nylea's Presence as a bad Spreading Seas . Stick it on their whatever land (avoiding painlands, naturally), get an island, and it replaces itself. This combo seems more durdley than it's worth, but the tech is there.

The best things I've seen come out of Meandering Towershell were strapping Dragon Throne of Tarkir to it (can I hear +5/+5 trample?) That was used against me in prerelease (I still won) and throwing down Kin-Tree Invocation as a 9/9 for GB because of that big shell.

He's nothing special, but annoying as hell to deal with if he sits on the field.

I've been testing him out in my BUG Altar of the Brood deck, and he's showing some potential. He can block the roudiest of Rabblemasters (and if he can't, I should've lost by the time he hits the field) and trigger the Altar (which starts making a difference if there's more than one out) while taking out some chump blockers or dealing damage. Worst case he has a fat ass to sit on my board and maybe mill for 9 with Phenax.

I still have lots of testing to do but for a budget build, he's showing potential.

I forget does he do a thing if you use Whip of Erebos to whip him back? Does he pull an Obzedat?
