Could Molten Vortex be played in a decent deck? I would think blue/red with Day's Undoing or red/green with Enter the Aurora what are your ideas?

I've seen some blue and red lists that run 4 copies of Day's Undoing along with 4 Magmatic Insight.

I'm playing it in my Jeskai token/burn post rotation to replace Lightning Strike

I think you mean The Great Aurora.

I tried running something akin to the first reply, but found the deck isn't fast enough to race. At best you've domed for 10 by T3, but now you're down to 1-2 cards in hand. Oh and that requires you to hit the T1 Molten Vortex. So I shifted to Grixis Dragons and completely dropped the vortex from the main. Vortex must be the focus, otherwise it is a nice card to have that occasionally shocks the face every now and then. Another issue is there is so much removal for enchantments that are good on their own, so it's hard to count on. O-Ring effects and Dromoka's Command are good even when they don't hit an enchantment, so why not play them. Shoot I'm even against The Great Aurora as it shuffles the vortex and dumps lands onto the field. It also requires 9 mana which is about 6 more than you want on the field in a dedicated vortex deck, maybe only 3-4 more depending on build.

All in all there are too many risks and issues that arise from trying to play that card to make it worth it in all but a casual sense.

my profile has a deck that manged to take down a full fledged atarka red deck. the trick is not to burn them right away. keep there creatures dead and DONT use Day's Undoing because it refills there hand. you CAN make this deck work. the sideboard is where its at. my deck uses a transform side board. i have to test with it still but so far so good. the deck is a Molten Vortex engine!

You can play a jeskai or grixis control list with outpost siege and the usual card draw aka Treasure Cruise & Dig Through Time plus Days Undoing for certain situations. Play a lot of burn and tokens to stall and refill your hand with the carddraw spells while shocking them every other turn using Molten Vortex. Since you discard a lot of lands you will always have enough to delve or you can just play Days Undoing. With Molten Vortex you basically don't have empty draws which is pretty nice.
