So according to MtgSalvation, Mutavault is coming to standard! And in a core set to boot. Thoughts?

What happens if you play Progenitor Mimic as a copy of Mutavault ?

I don't think that the Scars fast lands, nor the enemy duals or utility lands (most of them) from Innistrad were rubbish, lands have been fairly good and decent in recents years imho

I wonder where its price will settle after a month or so. Should be really interesting.

This Q&A thread should clear things up for you a lil bit regarding that Schuesseled. You basically get an unactivated land.

For once, I'm having a trouble figuring why this is a 30$ card, Can anybody enlightened me?

Thanks DukeNicky would you by chance know if progenitor mimics ability would bring in an extra mutavault per turn, because if it's not a creature during each upkeep, im not sure it would.
It's an expensive card murdakirose because its a perfect fit with every tribal deck, it survives board wipes, can be played on the first turn for 0 mana. Has a cheap ability when compared with other man lands. It's pretty boss.

Schuesseled Armageddon would like to have a talk to you about that combo D: (jokes).

MurasakiRose, lands that can be creatures have always ranked high. Blinkmoth Nexus and Inkmoth Nexus are kinda expensive as are manlands like Raging Ravine .
There are various reasons for this. Because they're only creatures on a turn you want them to be creatures, they're harder to target with removal; your opponent has to leave mana open until your turn to kill the thing, meaning they don't play something on their turn. And then if you don't transform your dude? Wasted opportunity on their part.
Meanwhile, the creature does great utility work as a mana source. You can also make them blockers whenever you please. I'm sure there are more reasons I'm missing, as I've been off the Magic scene for awhile and MTG be cray cray, as the kids say, these days.

With only 10 poison counters necessary to win, getting an Inkmoth Nexus in your opening hand is huge in pumping infect.

Merfolk decks use it for profit, mostly.
@Schuesseled, yes, you get one (unactivated) free Mutavault per turn if you mimic it. It will come into play as a land, not a creature, because that's how the original card enters play.

Wait...does this mean Progenitor Mimic can be used on Mutavault to ramp colorless mana!?
June 13, 2013 11:17 a.m.
It can, but Progenitor Mimic is 6 cmc... what are you ramping to, you madman?!

Having a guaranteed money land, makes people feel better!
There's been a lot of rubbish lands (other than the shocks of course) of late.
