Next Big Archetype

Mark my words, the Jeskai Way's theme is combat tricks, which goes well with heroic. So I predict that Jeskai heroic will be a new archetype. Upon the release of Khans of Tarkir.

Too lazy to use condescending autotyping website, too lazy to google it myself.

TThese new "clans" are too confusing. To me Jeskai will always be 'Murca

You don't need google to figure out which colors America is, just sayin'.
As far as the actual original post goes, it depends on what good tricks/auras we get to trigger heroic. Cipher (Trait Doctoring , Hidden Strings ) is gone post rotation, so that means no repeatable tirggers. Also losing some good auras in Ethereal Armor and Madcap Skills . But maybe Bestow can pick up the pieces (Hopeful Eidolon and Mogis's Warhound )

You do if you aren't American with little interest for America...

My apologies. If you live in a third world country, and have somehow managed to get into magic, then, no, you might not know what colors America is. But then you also probably don't have access to google, and so will have no idea what Jeskai is.
August 10, 2014 9:30 a.m.
The American colours are the same as the British and French colours. However, the name America is so overwhelmingly arrogant it's unbelievable.
August 10, 2014 9:30 a.m.
Arachnarchist - America has a notoriously self centric view of the world. Most other countries just dont give a shit what colours are on your flag. Its not about being in the third world its about literally not caring what your isolated country is up to.

Didn't think it was a hard concept that some people have no care for the USA and could care less what color our flag was.
August 10, 2014 9:38 a.m.
Literally so arrogant they can't understand that non-US citizens just don't care.

Sorry Rejex in reply to you yes i think it will be a deck but I'm not sure yet if it'll do too well. After rotation we'll see mbd and nud gone pretty much maybe that will open up room for this deck to grow

I don't know what y'all talking about. Everyone knows Red/White/Blue is THE Tricolour. And no one can change my mind! no oneeeeeeeeeeee...!!!! ((XD))
Kidding aside, although Jeskai is promising (Blue for control, Red for aggro/direct damage and White being an awesome utility color), I think Mardu (RWB) will take prevalence first, then settle with Temur (RUG) and Abzan (WBG). Why? Mardu is the color of Aggro and everytime there is a shift in the meta, block, colors, etc...people ALWAYS go back to basic aggro. Even now, have you seen how rabble red is performing in Standard? :)
Temur represents midrange fatties; I think it will be like today's Selesnya aggro/mid. And Abzan, well, it will be the new colors for control (bye Esper).
August 10, 2014 10:39 a.m.
Might as well mention Sultai (BUG). WotC says this is about "resource management" which is why it will be necroheavy. I'm seeing it at midrange power/speed. Hope we get new Entomb , Living Death , and Recurring Nightmare -like cards. Personally, I like this wedge since I LOVE Dimir and Golgari, not much for Simic though. If not in Standard, I hope Sultai does well in EDH.
August 10, 2014 10:48 a.m.
It seems like Sultai might actually get land destruction.
August 10, 2014 10:51 a.m.
I don't believe Abzan will be control. Their aspect is endurance and that seems to me like some serious life gain. And Junk isnt the correct colors for control. I mean sure black for removal and white for tapping but thats creature removal. I feel it will be lifegain with creature removal. Control doesn't make sense for those colors. (Long lIve Esper).
August 10, 2014 10:54 a.m.
Endurance means playing the long game - something control wants to do. They're Black and White which are key control colours. Green isn't misplaced it kills everything else. Golgari control is a thing in modern. Black kills creatures, green kills enchantments and artifacts, white exiles things.
We dont know the cards yet though so its a bit irrelevant.

Steven Colbert rubbing an American flag on his back; this will the biggest thing in standard.

It's not particularly hard to say "blue-white-red" or type UWR, which is what I do.
Speaking of the Standard archetypes, RUG Monsterswill probably be a thing (Sylvan Caryatid , Courser of Kruphix , Stormbreath Dragon and card draw) and Junk Midrange with a similar shell will probably be a thing.

Keep in mind that each Clan has a primary colour. That will largely help focus what it's really about, I'm guessing.
August 13, 2014 10:16 p.m.
Regardless of what ends up hot to start, I'm looking forward to Temur. My current standard deck is RUG and am very eager to see what cards I can use to replace the ones going out of rotation.

I've been playing RUG for most of standard, I really can't see me changing when the wedges actually appear. Needless to say I'll be all in on the beat down with card advantage train. Attacking and drawing cards is howI like to play magic. I don't care what Jeskai has for tricks, the one with the more weapons generally has a higher chance of coming out on top.

I predict the new Archetype will be drum roll Mono Black with new spells!

Junk will probably just stay midrange, my reading of their wiki page says that the Junk clan will probably be great at being grindy midrange decks. BUG will probably be the control colors, and afterall there's already a shell for BUG control. Considering all the unfair UW Ravnica control cards will be rotating, that could leave the only control deck coming from a Sultai wedge. Also "ruthlessness" sounds like "discard spells" to me.
Also, I like the idea of a Mardu aggro deck, assuming the lands in Tarkir come into play untapped. Let's not forget, Agent of the Fates is a thing they could play.

Huh, I apparently don't have the decklist on here (or, I can't find it amongst the hundreds of draft decks)
Rejex - I will attempt to type it out. I disassebaled it last week due to losing two Steam Vents and well... throwing a tantrum via unsleeving in rage.

Rejex - If I remember correct it was like this:
The Last Rug Playtest
Standard*
SCORE: 0 | 0 COMMENTS | 1 VIEWSThat said, I swear I had an Xenagod in the side. I may have had a Polis Crusher Main Board instead of a third Stormbreath Dragon since I can only find 2 dragons in my folder.
