I have dabbled a bit into more 5 color decks since we are getting the complete suite of shocks come gatecrash. I also love Nightveil Specter as a concept. It is a much better version of Stolen Goods which i tried to make work in my U/W tempo deck pre rtr standard. My question to the tappedout community is if they think a deck based around Nightveil Specter would be good from a competitive standpoint. Of course the deck would have to include Chromatic Lantern in order to obtain maximum potential with the specter. For reference, here is the list i have brewed up: 5 Color Specter
The top card of their deck being a land is always a concern you would have. However, if you do the math for a 60 card deck, let's say a 24 land to 36 spell split, then the odds of the top card being a land are roughly 40%. Not taking into consideration randomization or lack of. Given these odds, i feel very comfortable in that the specter will hit a playable card at lest half of the time you get damage through with him.

What I meant is that the specter can allow you to play THEIR lands.

apparently you can't play them anymore if your specter dies, or if it is removed from play, or blinked, or bounced and you put it back in play.
Something about it not being the same card anymore.

Correct. It won't have any memory of it's previous existence.

i think the best way to utilize this potential would be to make the spector hexproof and unblockable. i definitely agree with the chromatic lantern being run also. this would be great against a burn deck...exile their spells so they can't get to them and then burn the hell out of them yourself.

A thought to remember is it says "You may play CARDS exiled with ..." meaning if you get their lands...
