Recently I made a mono B devotion deck that splashed blue and it lead me to a thought. What if I were to take a mono U deck and splash a color?
Each color has it's merits and most of the list would stay the same but I was wondering what the tappedout community thought would pair the best as a companion color to a mono U devotion shell?

Black.
Although, a Master of Waves mono-blue devotion with a splash of red for Purphoros, God of the Forge sounds nice too.

Red would also give me access to Young Pyromancer ...

So far I'm looking at:
R for Young Pyromancer
B for Hero's Downfall
G for Prime Speaker Zegana
W for Detention Sphere
For the most part I want the deck to operate as a mono U devotion deck with Master of Waves etc.

Also with black and blue you can use Nightveil Specter because he has devotion in both!

Master Biomancer on the field + Giant Growth + Master of Waves = 5 mana 7/6 army

Master Biomancer is a pretty cooool idea for Master of Waves

And if you really wanted to you could use Artisan of Forms to copy Master Biomancer .

I was just going to use Clone as a 2x. Ok, G it is for biomancer because that gives us resilience to the "Master of Waves " "Hero's Downfall " situations.

I would pick G for Master Biomancer , Possibly Prophet of Kruphix , Scavenging Ooze sideboard at least, and Simic Charm .

And maybe AEtherling for 2 devotion + Biomancer triggers + unblockable shenanigans.

Simic Charm could allow you to have Master of Waves to re-trigger the enter ability.

Ohthenoises thanks for starting this thread. Master Biomancer does add much needed help to this otherwise great deck. i think i'm gonna try adding him too. (currently running a mono blue myself)

A card I think monoblue could use already and that green enables easier is Biomass Mutation as it doesn't take much mana to make some pretty decent swings with the army of elementals that Master of Waves makes

Monoblue really doesn't have a lot of room to customize, when it was first shown there were many copies of nearly the exact list, but made by many teams of pro's who didn't interact with eachother, even after weeks of it being played you don't see huge changes made to it.

demarge is right, the pro's haven't done it, so it can't be done. therefore you shouldn't even try lol.

This is actually a pretty fun concept. I'll be watching this thread. Even if it's not top eight, getting to play something that felt simic-y at fnm would be great.

@ Nigeltastic: I actually like the idea of Biomass Mutation in this kind of deck. You don't even have to splash green since you can just cast it with blue only. It's like you declare the attack, your opponent tries to kill off the Surfmaster but in response all your elementals suddenly are 3/3 or even bigger until EOT.

@Ohthenoises lol thanks. Here's my mono U deck. It's a lot different than the decklist you see on tour, but it's also more of a casual deck and I used stuff I had. It's actually pretty fun to play, and can frustrate my friends because right when they think they're getting the upper-hand I'm able to lock some more stuff down and sneak damage through. It's got a more control aspect that uses enchant creatures to lock down my opponents creatures and build devotion at the same time. I haven't tested it out in a competitive environment but it does play better than I originally thought so maybe one day I'll take it to FNM for fun. It doesn't splash any other colors, but it may give you an idea or two.

Personally I would pick black for mono blue devotion's color companion.
