I have a friend who likes to one up people with his decks...he has the money to buy all the cards he needs and allways gets his wins But boros is my area and he is treading on turf I need a way to shut down a red white aggro deck with a red white deck
It will put him in his place and maybe drop his ego down
The only way to stop aggro with aggro is have a sideboard that gains you lots of life for cheap mana.
Other than that, play GW and gain all the life.
All you have to do is gain life again aggro. If you do that, they'll just eventually run out of resources.

Light his cards on fire self-righteously. That is extremely red-white.

Spark Trooper is easy on the budget and pretty much wins the race against another aggro deck. Hopefully he doesn;t have Silverblade Paladin but if you can get through for 6 with the trooper you'll get that much closer to winning and set him back a whole deal. Nearheath Pilgrim also can do something similar. If all your combat is gaining you life then he won;t be able to keep up.

But yeah, Rhox Faithmender and Nearheath Pilgrim and stuff like that. Force him to have to deal waaaay more damage to you than you need to do to him.

I actually like the Spark Trooper suggestion. If it connects with the opponent, it's a 12-point swing, meaning your opponent now has to do 12 damage (theoretically) just to catch up.

24 gap with rhox faithmender, spark trooper is much much better than the play it currently sees. Also, once the life gain gap is taken care drop a big thing like Aurelia, gisela, or angel of serenity. Once either hit the board it's game over for aggro. I have a boros midrange that I have been testing and my whole goal is make it to turn 7 to drop one of those ladies.

Run some stuff like Stromkirk Noble that will be hard for him to deal with?

Run Silverblade Paladin and bond it with Spark Trooper and make him rage.

Naya Blitz running Nearheath Pilgrim will crush a boro's deck.

You could go Boros control. Run stuff like Path to Exile , Lightning Bolt , etc to slow him down, drop Assemble the Legion ,, then soon after Gisela

cartwheelnurd and NoSkillManiac are right. Spark Trooper with Silverblade Paladin is beast and pretty much fucks everyones day up. Just be smart about playing it or he will Searing Spear your Spark Trooper before you can attack. I run this in my Boros deck Neighborhood Watch

If you have the cards, you can cast Aurelia's Fury for 1 damage dealing the damage to him to prevent him from removing your Spark Trooper beforehand. If you can go into Extended rather than Standard, Grand Abolisher will ruin a partial burn deck, if they burn on your turn.

somewhat off topic, Epochalyptik wouldn't this have been better off in the deck help area? he doesn't mention standard at all in his op.
as for good ways to deal with another boros deck could be mainboard Fiend Hunter and Riders of Gavony along with some Frontline Medic s, and if the deck doesn't have to be standard Honor of the Pure can usually make your dudes outclass his and Sword of War and Peace seems the perfect artifact for this situation.

Deck hep is more for feedback on specific, existing builds. I can move it, but OP needs to tell me where.

it really doesn't matter don't nit pik where people post stuff. standard help versus deck help really makes little difference and shouldnt ruin anyones day.

Its only a really big deal if this were in MTG Q&A or something which it is not.

why not something like Blind Obedience ? if aggro is what he is doing why not make him pay for it it at least slows him down

oh, I get it. Attack then Fling . I apologize, you are right. Damn, even better. Good call...

If your're looking for cheap life gain, Cathedral Sanctifier is perfect for your deck. 3 life plus chump blocker.

yeah, and Boros Charm is a good alternate for the paladin, but it means coming up with 4 red, 2 white, 2 colorless in 1 turn, maybe not one of burn's strong points.
April 14, 2013 3:32 p.m.
Spark Trooper is really the best Boros card to use against other Boros decks. It's a quick 6 damage to their dome and you recover 6 life in the process.

You could also use Doomed Traveler and Lingering Souls for some cheap extras that pretty much replace themselves and have some flying defense and attack in the air as well.
