Pace of new standard

How fast do you guys think our standard it it going to shift to midrange or stay at more aggro type of decks and do you think off meta decks like control and ramp will have a chance
We know that RDW is going to be a thing, and at the start of new formats aggro decks tend to be prevalent anyway, so expect a LOT of aggro at least until all the ramp/control lists have been optimised.

The pace of the new format will likely be pretty comparable to what it is now, honestly, based on the fact that the best decks right now aren't rotating. Ramunap, Temur/4c Energy, R/G Pummeler, U/W Approach, and U/B Scarab God Control are each losing a maximum of 2 or 3 cards apiece with easy replacements right around the corner. The real question is how good Nayasaurs will wind up being and if it can consistently beat Energy to the point where Energy needs to change. If Energy isn't knocked off its throne, don't expect too much of a shift in the format.

Yeah right now at my LGS my I keep getting 2nd in fnm only losing to mono black zombies because they are losing a lot of cards I'm hoping that my ramp deck will be able to stay strong after rotation.

I agree with zandl
I see no change imminent.
Leon9358 ou're assuming that no other decks as strong as Zombies will be created in the new meta.
Vampires are going to be very strong. Not to mention all the other Tribes.

Really Argy? Vamps? That's honestly the worst tribe in Ixalan by far... They've got nothing good going on until pretty high up the mana curve.

Just an example.
My real point was the just because Zombies are rotating out doesn't mean that another strong deck won't emerge to take it's place.
I do think you are underestimating Vampires a little bit.

I do think merfolk tribal will be good but I hope Dino Ramp is on top

Zaueski remember we still have the Aetherborn vampires from Aether Revolt, namely Gifted Aetherborn and Yahenni, Undying Partisan. And it's not all high end curve stuff, Vicious Conquistador is a LEGIT 1-drop and Sanctum Seeker is pretty solid at the 4-spot. Even Bloodcrazed Paladin could be good against certain decks. Walk the Plank is a good addition to Fatal Push, and we still have all the good hand disruption along with Duress now. I think vampires could be pretty solid actually, like Argy. Heck, even Metallic Mimic and Vanquisher's Banner could give it a zombie-esque feel.

After sufficient testing of merfolk builds I concluded that Argy's assumptions about them were correct. They are about as good at Aggro as a deck of 20 plains and 40 Nyx-Fleece Ram. I just could not make them consistently be threatening by turn 4 or 5. They will have to be late game oriented. But that doesn't have much going for it either.

Ramp will be huge I think. Because dinosaurs. Both RDW and grixis control will git gud probably too. I think lifegain got a little bit of love to work well. Overall I think the tempo of standard will speed up a little bit, but there will be room for some off meta stuff. I guess it depends more on your meta itself though. You'll have to see how it plays out
