Post-rotation decks

With lots of SOI cards being spoiled, what decks are you excited about brewing or playing? Personally, I want to build a UB control that uses Thopter Spy Network and Tamiyo's Journal to gain card advantage and win.

Some BR/x Madness and a Werewolf aggro (midrange?) deck are the things I'm hoping to play. Im actually holding off on going crazy with the brews for now until we see the land cycle in SOI since that will strongly dictate how standard moves forward from Fetches rotating.

That's a good point. From what doesn't rotate, we know that the allied pairs will be supported with the BFZ tango lands and OGW tapped lands and enemy pairs will be supported with ORI pain lands and new man lands.

Jace fueled Madness decks will be a thing. Most likely UR because Stormchaser Mage.

Honestly I'm hoping for a couple more enchantments, Currently trying to brew up a Sigil of the Empty Throne and Starfield of Nyx deck, not sure if I should go UW or WB.

I'm playing grixis madness post rotation because it looks great. However, bant company seems like an obvious tier 1 deck because it's already really good and it loses very little. The same thing goes for ramp strategies.

I'm currently winning constantly with BR Dragons and a bit of my own flavor thrown in. With baby Kola going away that kind of sucks however I think I can still just stick with BR and be fine. My wife picked out a box of OTG for me yesterday and holy crap, I got a wasteland, Chandra, Kalitas, Nissa, World Breaker, TKS, Smasher, Foil Sea-gate Wreckage, Mirrorpool and more 10$+ stuff... about a 350$ box.

Anyway I think I will probably just stick with the BR deck and replace some of the rotating stuff with that new "Black Delver" and some other zombie/vampire graveyard synergy stuff, I also love the underrated Drana from BFZ.

I really like Chandra and Kalitas and they work pretty well together, I was hoping to get just those 2 out of that box since I didn't have either. I think BR (possibly a third color) seems great. I sold all my Jaces recently so I'm not sure what else I would splash blue for especially with dig/cruise rotating out.

I'm currently playing GU coco with post rotation cards (no SOI yet) and I haven't lost to a single other style of post rotation yet. You can see it within my decklists as GU coco

BW Eldrazi mid range and Aggro will still be a thing. Also GB Elves can finally be a thing.

I'm personally trying to build an Atarka White deck so I can run Nahiri. The deck will have a lot of ramp and Oath of Nissa so I can use any color mana to play Nahiri.

What do people think of Relentless Dead and how it will fit into decks? The zombie support is minimal so far, but I could see a mono B deck doing some work with Drana, Kalitas, Mindbreak Demon etc.

I think Dragonlord Ojutai is going to be better than ever thanks to Crackling Doom rotating out. We'll still have Silumgar's Scorn and Foul-Tongue Invocation, plus Dragonlord's Prerogative can be used as an okay substitute for Dig Through Time. I'll be brewing U/W or Esper dragons for sure.

From SOI I want to try and build something arround either a U/R madness storm-esque kind of deck or something that abuses the crap out of blinks since we have Eldrazi Displacer and now we are getting Eerie Interlude. but really I'm more curious about whats going OUT. namingly seige rhino (good riddance) and what I hope is the death of Abzan so something new can take its place.

The only two 2 color deck combinations that look weak to me is Green/Blue and Red/White. Hopefully the last of the SOI cards will make either of those decks more standard viable.

All the other card combos still have a good selection of cards.

RG - Atarka looks like its' going to be turning into a more midrange type of deck compared to its' agro precursor. It still has a lot of good green cards for a creature base and Arlinn Kord just makes it quite solid with Command.

BW - Talk about love. You're getting a new Sorin. Declaration in Stone is amazing. Throw in Anguished Unmaking and you have a strong support of BW. They also have a very strong land and creature base coming into SOI.

BG - Bwahahahahahahaha. Let's see. You can go Elves. CoCo Vampires. Aristocrats.... Seriously; the only thing that was holding BG back was that Abzan was even better.

WU - Another color combo that was held back due to fetches. With all the new creature hate brought in with SOT; WU will be seeing some decent play. Won't be surprised if Narset and Myth Realized actually become viable.

BU - Has a multiple different ways this deck could go. From mill; to board control. Yet it will see some standard play.

UR - Going from straight Prowess to a combo MadPro deck. It will all depend on how many good Madness cards we get from the full set.

GW - Collected Token Counter Anthem. This color will see standard play. Even if it's loosing hardened scales.

BR - Aggro Vampires. Nuff said.

Eldrazi/x/x - Waiting for the hate to start.

Rothus seems like the most obviously powerful two colour combination, just based on what we have now. Bant company is a tier 1 deck in standard and its not losing anything but fetchlands. It's basically a deck splash Reflector Mage, so I don't see why it will stop being good

Mostly cause of the lack of fetch lands. UG just doesn't have that strong of combined creature pool to look viable alone. So the only way would be to splash another color; which leads to mana issues due to lack of good mana fixing.

The good creatures that can be played would eventually just do better in a different color pairing.

So in general; 3 color decks are going to be a lot harder to pull off.

Taking that into consideration; you have two agro color combinations in GB and RB. You have two strong midrange combinations in GW and GR. And you have three very strong control color combinations in WB, WU, and UB.

UR will see play once someone finds a way to exploit Madness.

So compared to all those UG and RW are just lacking due to a lack of very strong cards.
