Kind of an odd question, but could a card like Ashes to Ashes see a standard reprint? I know that colorhate has kind of gone by the wayside, but are there any issues with the non-artifact clause? Can 2 for 1's exist in standard?

The non-artifact clause is fine since Black isn't supposed to be able to deal with artifacts. As for the two-for-one aspect, I think that's also fine in the specific case of Ashes to Ashes. 5 life is a lot! In my opinion that's enough to count as giving your opponent another card in return.

No, Ashes to Ashes won't see a Standard reprint, because WotC has moved away from the non-artifact clause on black removal spells. Killing two creatures wouldn't be a problem for Standard (although three mana might be too low, even with the life payment), but they'd have to make it a rare because of limited (and even that might be pushing it).

Rhadamanthus, it's only non-creature artifacts that black isn't allowed to remove. When it comes to creatures, it doesn't mater whether or not it's also an artifact.

Also, I just realized that Ashes to Ashes exiles the creatures, and generally speaking black isn't allowed to that, especially not efficiently.
