A new card has been previewed from Strixhaven: School of Mages.

The card is: Elite Spellbinder
Combine this with Drannith Magistrate for some serious game control.
sweet card... powerful yet seemingly fair... seems like it could be NASTY outside of standard.

Mcat1999 Yeah there's two creatures involved in the combo, but since Elite Spellbinder only contributes to the combo by entering the battlefield, not needing to stay around, you'd only need to protect the Drannith Magistrate , effectively just a one-creature combo.
And we're talking about a spoiled Strixhaven card, not dirty combo's per se '^^
It's a 3/1 flying btw, just like Flickerwisp . Draw step Aether Vial activations might shake up modern a bit in D&T decks.

I know I misread this card first time I saw it, the exiled card does not go back to their hand if Paulo leaves the battlefield, unlike Kitesail Freebooter . So with that mind I think this can have applications somewhere.

It may seem fragile but the Drannith Magistrate is not going to be the only card in play punishing the opponent or supporting the new card. I think it's a good addition to White's arsenal of walking tax/punishment cards. Add in Thalia and Skyclave and you push your opponent out 3 or 4 turns for their cheapest cards while exiling their threats.
Or you could go WU and add Yorion or blink nonsense along with a typical control package.

In edh, it becomes a staple with Brago, King Eternal . It won't take long to lock down your opponents hands.

It's a pretty cool card. I wish it had flash, but I like that they're branching into hand hate for white.
I didn't even notice it was PVDDR! Guess we know what he'll look like in a few decades?
