Pro-Black vs Shimian Specter

Ok. If I swing and hit the player with Shimian Specter and the player has say a Knight of Glory in their hand can I take it and all of the rest of them out of their hand, deck and graveyard? I hope so, because if not, how else (besides a Golgari Charm) can Golgari deal with that?

Protection is a static ability that only functions when the source card is on the battlefield. It doesn't do anything while the card is in any other zone. In this case, it doesn't even matter; Shimian Specter's ability doesn't target.
