Prophet of Kruphix Seems Crazy Good

she does die to a lot as a 2/3 including Lightning Strike , but her ability is crazy. God forbid you run into her with nothing to kill her with, or she manages to maintain some kind of Hexproof/Shroud. I feel like she is just going to break control decks, or anything willing to run her colors. Sphinx's Revelation at EOT is now full powered even if you tap out on your turn before hand. Drop creatures at instant speed in response to a spell/attack. Molten Primordial or countless other threats with flash, while essentially giving them Vigilance?? Don't even attempt Multiplayer!!! So, if your playing a 3 man game. You tap out on your turn, pass, untap on opp. turn, tap out casting creature, opp. pass, untap on 2nd opp. turn, tap out again...so at his point you've gone several turns ahead of your opponents, while not even getting to your actual turn again yet. Maybe I'm looking at her wrong, but she seems like an amazing card that will stick and see play in almost all formats.
Well I guess that was a broad statement. I only play EDH and standard so I guess I kinda exaggerated in the sense that I don't know much about the other formats.

I don't see it being that viable in Standard, to be honest. It's a big investment for something that's quite vulnerable. It also needs plenty of draw power to support the ability; otherwise, it's hard to capitalize on the untap effect. Flash and free untaps don't matter if your hand is empty.

If you have a draw-engine to back her, she will be amazing in standard I think. When I'm not too busy with two colored deck I'm going to throw a RUG deck together with her in it.

For EDH, it will make some G/U/x decks even more powerful because they have redundancy for Seedborn Muse with the added bonus of an unconditional Yeva, Nature's Herald stapled on.

It's definitely going to see EDH play. Most likely a staple as well but I doubt it will ever see much Standard play for reasons Epochalyptik gave above.

EDH or modern if Heartless Summoning and her ever team up. Tempo swing could be nasty against the right decks:
T1 land pass
T2 land, Heartless Summoning
Turn 3 Prophet of Kruphix , Opponent's turn, untap, drop another 5 cmc drop
Later on if you get Havengul Lich and her out resummon creatures in your graveyard on your opponent's turn for 1 colorless each

Of course in a perfect world with fetches etc, a BUG deck could pull this off

I think BUG has the best chance of abusing her in standard by using Underworld Connections on everyone's turn to generate huge card advantage and then also being able to play to her strength by having enough cards to utilize the lands available due to untappage.

harrydemon117 It wouldn't just be 1 colorless each when you use Havengul Lich . You still have to pay the creature's casting cost in addition to the 1 colorless paid to use the ability.

You are correct ljs54321. I meant to say 1+ their adjusted mana cost. It would also work for cards in your opponent's graveyard as well :)
I just remember trying to abuse him and Rooftop Storm at one point and it never paid off

I'm trying to make her work in a standard bant flash deck its coming together (in my mind at least) but if anyone would like to check it out its my only deck on here at the moment and I'd appreciate any feedback!

Enigma's Bant Flash is the deck, and bant flash seems like fun. I've tried to make it but find that having a worse mana base, meaning you're having to shock yourself more often plus the issue of Burning Earth makes three-colour risky unless your deck is very powerful overall, and much more so than one that drops a colour.

yeah I'm considering making it into two separate decks I have all of the cards in the mainboard. It would result in one deck being g/w aggro and simic midrange

Have a look at New Simic, I made this deck with the new goods cards from Theros that fits simic gameplay. Lot of drawing is just what you need for this Prophet of Kruphix

I have to agree with the crowd that it won't see much play in Standard, which of course means I'm going to try it. I really like the new Bestow creatures like Boon Satyr or Thassa's Emissary with her since you can pump her (or Master Biomancer ) at flash speed without leaving yourself vulnerable to a wipe. I also really like how she works with dorks given that you can play her AND another 5-drop (Kalonian Hydra anyone?) as early as turn 3. Finally, draw power seems like a must, which means Garruk, Caller of Beasts and Prime Speaker Zegana are great fits in that kind of deck.
Oh and any Standard deck running her should load up on Simic Charm
Not sure if shameless self-promoting works on a forum, but let's give it a shot- My Prophet, Your Loss

I made a standard deck based around Prophet of Kruphix (The Reformed Religioscience of the Simic. for those interested) and in the right environment, it's a game winner. As a green / blue player, you'll have access to counterspells and Master Biomancer , making the prophet far less vulnerable than you'd initially think. That's just my opinion.

Amazing card? Yes.
See play in all formats? No.
Prophet of Kruphix is certainly an instant EDH staple. It might see some play in Standard, but probably only fringe control play. Modern and Legacy don't even bother with it. It's too expensive and vulnerable.
